  1. Guess you didn't read the article then. It clearly stated who opened it.
  2. And you didn't cover it up? Hmm, the "normal" person will likely see a stark difference between city workers leaving a manhole cover open and a criminal doing the sme. In one the city is responsible for the cover being opened in the other they aren't. Clear?
  3. At least be reasonable in your guesses. Maybe just measure the length. That way you won't look ridiculous in claiming to have caught the state record.
  4. In IL homeowners are not responsible for people falling on natural accumulations of snow and ice. There is a specific law on the books making these types of suits extremely difficult.
  5. So, you're going to punish the kid for what the mom said? It was the mom's quote about suing and not the girl who fell in the hole.
  6. This case would seem pretty clear cut. The workers are wrong in not putting up cones/tape/whatever warning pedistrians of an open manhole cover. It is not reasonable to assume that one will watch where they are putting each step. The texting portion of this is irrelevant. If a car full of hot chicks drove by and you turned your head to look at it and fell in the case would be the same. However, she didn't appear to suffer any damages so there will be no case. If she broke a leg of something the city/workers would've been liable. People say that they are going to sue for a lot of things that they have no hope of winning and they will end up not suing. My guess is that no suit will be brought in this case and the news will not cover that portion of the "story'.
  7. I haven't used those specific ones, but I have good success with the Mann's and Rapala shallow divers over weedbeds. After reading your other posts, it's likely that the spot you're fishing isn't conducive to a wake bait. If you're only ever going to fish one spot then you'll be best served by buying lures that make sense for that spot.
  8. That white bass would be the new Ohio state record!!! That would be a fun day, you catch your first largemouth ever AND the state record white bass.
  9. I trust your research I was just questioning if your research was for all tourneys or just those where matted or surface grass was the main cover fished. Looks like it was.
  10. What are hitchikers? Where do you get them? The wire on the eye of the second hook in my post is a hitchhiker. It clips into the eye of the hook and then the plastic screws into the corkscrew end. I saw them at dick's.
  11. Well, if you look at the bottom of the pic you can see part of another boat. In the bottom right of the pic there's also a seat. I don't Fish's boat has a seat like that. So, it's likely that it was someone else who was near him and they took the pic.
  12. He added that part at 11:20 today. So it wasn't there when everyone responded. And to answer his question, I'd ditch the cheap baitcaster and buy a Citica. I grew up fighting a cheap baitcaster and "hating" it. Once I got back into fishing I bought a Citica and now like baitcasters at least as well as my spinning equipment.
  13. The only issue I see with this is that your point was regarding fishing a type of cover and now you're using data across all tourneys regardless of the cover/structure that was fished. Now if the tourney results said caught them in the grass with a soft plastic, then you'd be proving your point. Now, I dont' think you really are. BTW, fishing the grass is rather broad. Are we talking deep weeds, shallow weeds, emergent weeds, matted weeds, floating weeds?
  14. Yep, those work great! Thats how I do it or use hooks like 5bl posted How does the hitchhiker work on these? I don't see how it would work well. I have these hooks too and they work well, but the hook is different allowing for the use of a hitchhiker.
  15. Because I buy my stick baits from the link in my sig. www.*.com
  16. BPS worm binder
  17. I actually have some hooks like that (they're gammy, not owner) but I have some of the ones with the weight on the hook too. Should I "retire" the second kind and just use the first?
  18. Right now I use the point of the hook to make a hole in the bait and then push the eye of the hook up through that hole. This means that I have to retie every time that I change a piece of plastic. Should I just stop being lazy and retie or is there a simpler way to get the bait on the hook without pushing it over the weighted area and ripping it up?
  19. Well then I'd get a variety of stuff and start working on individual techniques. I really like spinnerbaits and would buy a few of them. The Strike King KVD series has been good to me. I'd get some topwater classics like a Pop-R, Jitterbug, and buzzbait. The Mann's 1- series is good for super shallow cranking. The Rapala DT series is good for everything else. The Rage Tail line of baits are pricey but work superbly. The space monkey and anacondas are real nice. Not to get into the entire senko debate, but I wouldn't buy them from BPS. If you look at my sig you'll see where I buy most of my soft plastics from. Great prices/selection/service. Same with jigs but different link. Just match the weight of the lure with the ratings on your rods and you'll be good.
  20. "Better" rods will be more brittle and more thin and therefore will be MORE likely to break in this manner. If you want to keep swinging them then you should get an Ugly stick or something. Do #2.
  21. X2 His site is www.custombassfishinglures.com
  22. Ditto! 3/4 oz black 3/8 oz PBJ!! 8-)
  23. In my opinion one can not give you good advice without knowing what rods/reels that you have, where you're fishing, what types of cover/structure you're fishing, if you are looking to catch fish in quantity or quality, etc. A 1/2 oz bait isn't going to be the best option if you only have a M spinning rod. Jigs aren't going to be the best choice if you're using rods with a medium action or something like an ugly stick. If you're shore fishing weedy ponds then canks aren't going to be a good option.
  24. My favorite is the widegap jig from gman (custombassfishinglures.com), but I also fish his football and finesse jigs.
  25. I have one of those. It now stores my spare spinnerbaits and buzzbaits as it takes up too much space in my tackle bag. I may have to try the FTO folder.
