  1. Thanks guys! I'm gonna give a couple more things a try. My main problem right now is that the Devcon 2T is pretty thick and I tend to get too much on the eyes. I'll keep giving it a try. I'm sure it will get neater the more of them I do.
  2. Picked up some stick-on eyes for my Poison Tail jigs and they look great, but don't stick well... A dot of superglue under them seems to work, but it leaks out and gets on the head and my fingers. The last couple I've covered with as thin a layer as I could of Devcon 2T, but it is a lot of work and there's still a lot on the head. So what do you guys use to keep them on?
  3. Thanks everyone! And cadman is right, it's just a clear weedguard. I'm really liking the shape of this head. Can't wait to try them out in the spring... Now if winter would only hurry up!
  4. Thanks to everyone who helped me with my hook issues on the Poison Tail mold in my thread about it. I got the mold, but haven't gotten a chance to get any Mustad hooks for it, so I bent a couple of my Owner Cutting Point hooks to fit, as I love these hooks anyways. Here's my first one. I've yet to get sticky eyes for them, so some careful manipulation of some black powder paint worked good enough for now. I messed around with a few different options, and finally came up with a Sexy Shad skirt I liked. More pics later!
  5. cadman, Thanks for the offer! I will probably get getting the smaller of the two molds sometime towards the end of the month. When I do, I'll shoot you a PM. It looks like I will probably go with the straight shank Mustads (not the EWG) for swimjig purposes, and buy myself a few packs of Owner TwistLock Finesse hooks for a handful of smaller baits. Thanks guys, and if anyone has any more info, let me know!
  6. Dang, those look great! Good work man!
  7. I never thought about it, but you're right. Their Twist Lock hooks are about 30 degrees... That would be very expensive though like you said. They really should make a 30* Cutting Point hook with a regular eye, cause I don't think the flat eye 30* hook would work as good coming through cover in the Poison Tail jig. Looking on eBay, I found some Gamakatsu 35* hooks. Never seen them before, you guys think they'll work?
  8. Been looking into getting a Poison Tail mold, but after using the Owner Cutting Point hooks in my brush jigs all year, I don't know if I want to go back to Mustads... So does anyone know if there is a Gamakatsu or Owner (preferably Owner) hook that will work in the Poison Tail mold? Thanks guys, BB144
  9. Those Teflon base bins are great. They have made painting my jigs so much easier. I'd definitely take them out before baking. Here's how I do it. Heat my jigs for a couple seconds in a blow torch, quickly insert the Teflon pin, dip into powder paint, pull pin out, hand in toaster. Once I get the batch done, I bake them all. Like others have said, a fluid bed helps a great deal with the hook eyes. If you don't have one and don't want to build/buy one, try shaking the jar of powder paint after every couple jigs (with the lid on). This will "fluff up" the paint, aerating it slightly. This should help until you can get yourself a fluid bed. Also, don't heat your jigs too hot, that will also get too much paint on the eye, even with a fluid bed. cadman, what do you use for the bottom porous part of the fluid bed cups? I built myself a fluid bed, and have a few cups from a retailer with the white porous material, but need a couple more on the cheap.
  10. Jaydee, I've had some customers tell me they really like them. They are also my personal favorite hooks for jigs. Once I started pouring with them, I've replaced almost every Mustad hooked jig in my own box with the Owner CP's.
  11. They're actually 3/8oz and 4/0. But these 4/0 are about the size of a 5/0 Mustad.
  12. Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback.
  13. Got some football jigs tied up. Two-tone heads, Owner Cutting Point hooks, and hand tied skirts. I should have some more pics coming as I'm working on another batch with some new colors of football and flipping jigs. Thanks for looking!
  14. Just be careful, it can get very addicting (not to mention expensive)!
  15. Thank you for the compliments everyone. It's almost as nice when people like your baits as it is when the fish do! lol Thanks LeBron! Glad you liked the jigs.
  16. Tied up some new jigs over the past couple days. Black & Blue with a hand tied skirt and two-tone painted head: Another two-tone head, this one in PB&J: Football Jig with Owner Cutting Point hook. Hand tied skirt. A couple more of the hand tied Black & Blue: And finally, a group shot! Thanks for looking! **Photography by PhotoRebel Photography**
  17. Those look good. I especially like the ones in the last pic.
  18. Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm using copper wire. You can buy spools of it at craft stores. If the wire you've got is soft enough, you can probably use it. I've tried a couple different things, including thread, and I also like the copper wire. It's soft enough that it's not too much of a pain to work with, but strong enough that it won't break too easily. I know the wire I'm using is bigger than 24 gauge, although I couldn't tell you what size it is for sure.
  19. Thanks! I'm sending a PM your way about the photography. Thanks, I appreciate the compliments! I wrap the wire once around the jig head, leaving it tight enough to hold the skirt in place, but not so tight that I can't move the strands. That's when I move the skirt material where I want it before tightening the wire and wrapping it the rest of the way. I usually lose a few strands, but a few isn't a big deal.
  20. My latest batch of jigs turned out pretty good. This was my first good result hand tying jigs. Thanks for looking! **Photography by PhotoRebel Photography**
  21. I never did say those were the rods i was getting, I said they were what I was looking at, I'm just trying to get more information before I do pick out my rod. So I thank those of you who actually helped. BB
  22. Then why ask if you have already made up your mind? No one suggested that combination. :-/ Dang! don't be so critical. People suggest longer rods than I had originally picked out so I started looking at longer rods. There's no need to get so worked up about it.
  23. Thanks guys. I am going to change my Soft Jerkbait to 6'6" MH, and my I think I'm gonna go with 7' M for my Hard jerkbait. BB
  24. This year, especially this spring, I'm gonna be using jerkbaits, both soft and hard. What rods would work for these, I'll most likely get one for each. Here's what I'm thinking: Soft Jerkbaits: 6'-6'6" M-MH Hard Jerkbaits: 7' ML-M Does this sound good, any suggestion? I only want to know about length, power and action, I don't need brands I already know which brands I'm getting. Thanks, BB
  25. Cannon's and Nikon's are good cameras. Stay away from ones like Sony. For taking pictures of fish and stuff, get a nice optical zoom. Digital zoom is ok, but your pictures are much, much clearer with a good optical zoom. My camera is 6x opticalthen it does up to like 10x digital. BB
