  1. I would look for a nice used bass. Carvin is an excellent choice. Not on the popular side so the resale is low but the quality is top notch. Made in the USA with great parts. It was said earlier but the consistancy of the low end stuff is just awful. Go to a music store and you will see what we mean so that would discourage me from buying one online. Peavey made some solid basses in the late 80s-earl 90s that go for a nice price. Anything US Fender is overpriced and their Squire line has some very low end electronics. Go to music stores and hit the used section, I have picked up many nice basses for a song doing that in theh past.
  2. I am a big fan of full grip rods (as well as rod brand continuity) and after going through many brands of rods, G Loomis & the Cabelas XML's have really suited me well. I am sure the Steez is a great rod, but until that sucker comes with a full rear grip, I don't see one in my future. Great collection !! I'm a big fan of the XML rods also !
  3. After reading this thread I went to ebay and got a pair of native eyewear glasses new, shipped for $43.00. thanks again for the info.
  4. Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered the cabels covers.
  5. I have two 4600s. One of them was my first bait caster about 2 years ago. Built like tanks and cast very well. Still use them. Plan on starting my son off with one.
  6. I have had very good success with the sexy shad color but I have been using a BLACK=>GREY=>WHITE fade crank for years and had success. It has been killer in the spring when water is still pretty cold. Following is just my opinion and observation I think white is a lost color. My local large fishing retailer told me last summer that he could give whie baits away. Plastics or cranks. Second, KVD has people cranking again ( at least in deeper water ). I have always been a big fan of cranks but I would says that 80% of the boats at local tourneys go straight to pitching and flipping.
  7. I have a 12ft jon boat with a TM mounted. My question is where to mount the 50amp resettable fuse. Can I mount it on top of the battery box? It is a small square with two post terminals and I'm worried about it getting splashed on. Any pics would be great of your mounting. Thanks !!
  8. I have a 12 ft jon that I want to put a gas motor on. I have looked at the little 5hp briggs and straton but was told it has no omph. I have also found a Nissian 6hp at my local cableas bargin cave. Any suggestions ?? HP or model ?? I'm looking for something to get me to my spot a little faster on the bigger lakes I fish. thx
  9. that link is bad, is this the one http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/boa/878590366.html
  10. I talk to the state about that. Basically both. Winner pay tax on full amount and them the buyer pays on the amount of purchase.
  11. Last tourny I was at the winner received a 33k certificate for a new stratos. I was standing near him when some one inquired about buying the "boat". Long story short the guy bought the "certificate" for 22k. Any one done this ?? Any big pitfalls to lookout for ?? I have found two recent winners that have nitro z-6 certificates for sale. thanks
  12. I found a 2004 nitro with a merc 150 xr6 on it. The owner says the motor has a scored cylinder. The boat is priced accordingly and the owner is in a bit of distress. Is this something you stay away from or is it just a matter of "if the price is right " ?
  13. I put FC on one of my cranking rods this year. It was ok but I'm going back to Yo_Zuri 12# when I change the line. I can cast the YZ further and get less backlashes. Just my personal preference.
  14. This statement makes no sense to me. You don't need anything more than more than a quick set of hands to catch a fish. If you have certain requirements then you can find the correct products to fill those requirements. Not all of us have the same requirements from our gear. Products that do what they claim make this process a lot eaiser. .
  15. I was thinking the same thing so I tried a Gambler swim blade today. No luck. Today it was any plastic that had red flake in it.
