  1. I disagree. Now, regarding LC jerkbaits... I throw LC's 75% of the time, but there are times when bass prefer an X-Rap or a husky jerk, and I seriously doubt there's any time a LC will catch twice as many fish as an X-Rap, for example. There may be times when a LC will catch a few more fish, or times when a LC will catch a big finnicky fish that won't strike an X-Rap, but there's not that big of a difference between the two jerkbaits. The LC jerkbaits are a little more subtle than an X-Rap, and they have a nice rolling motion on pauses. Personally, I fish two lakes where I have more success with X-Raps than LC's. That said, the quality of LC baits is top-notch, and IMO, worth the price. You have to tune them very infrequently and they're pretty durable. I have a couple other LC baits, some cranks, rattlers, and topwaters (love the Sammies), and all of them are top-notch. Also, there are other companies that manufacture similarly high-end jerkbaits and other baits that I haven't tried. Imakatsu, Mega Bass, and others. These are even more expensive than LC's, and at least as high-quality.
  2. WRONG! Lol, just kidding. That reminds me of stupid infomercials where the salesman will ask himself a question ending with 'right?', then immediately exclaim "WRONG!" Anyway, good to see you're nabbin' them on topwaters (and chatterbaits )
  3. Thanks What part of CT are you from? I live in Newington, just outside of Hartford. I usually won't travel more than an hour or so to get to a fishing spot (unless I go up to NH), but I fish pretty much everywhere within an hour's drive radius from my house.
  4. Man that SUCKS! I'm anxious to head out to my smallie waters up there - just bought a 9' pontoon boat that's gonna be perfect Hopefully you guys will get a week or two of freakish 70 degree weather or something to melt all that ice.
  5. Really? I think he's one of the very few best actors in the business today. I've never seen a movie of his I didn't like. Speaking of Ed Norton, does anyone know the name of the movie with him and Richard Gere where Gere is a lawyer and there's a huge twist in the end? I want to see it again but don't know the name. Thanks.
  6. I saw a couple more movies in the last week. American Gangster - thought it was pretty good, nothing great. Denzel is obviously the man in any movie he does, but I think I would have enjoyed the movie more if I hadn't just watched a tremendous movie right beforehand... Gone Baby Gone - thought it was fantastic. There were some really good twists, and I really liked the moral dilemmas it presented to the audience, and the changing attitudes I had towards different characters throughout the movie. Is a moral act based on following strict principles regardless of the outcome, or is it permissible to break the rules, so to speak, to achieve a more desirable outcome? I was a philosophy major, so I really enjoy thinking about moral dilemmas 3:10 to Yuma - thought it was ok, nothing special. Just not a very believable end to the movie. Yeah, yeah, he can escape from prison, but let's get serious.
  7. Thanks Popeye, I'll definitely look into that. One more question I forgot to ask. What to you guys use to fill up the pontoons? I have a hand-held pump that's kind of a pain in the rear. I pumped it up in my living room last night and sweated right through my shirt. Can't imagine in the summertime outside tryin' to pump that baby :-?
  8. Hey guys, I just bought the Trout Unlimited Colorado 9' pontoon boat last night, looking forward to using it this weekend. The problem is, I thought it came with a transport wheel, but it does not, and the thing weighs 70 lbs with no gear, and is pretty bulky for one person. This weekend I'll be able to drive right up to the water, but for the future I need some kind of transport system. What would you recommend? Do you guys have any ideas of makeshift transport systems? I'd like to use it in NH and be able to walk up to a half a mile or so from my car. Thanks guys, link to the boat below (was $400 at Cabelas btw) http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/sm-trout-unlimited-colorado-pontoon-boat--pi-1788862.html
  9. That is an awesome day! Congratulations I love that the next cast after your PB giant you get a 5 pounder. I bet you were just happier than a pig in shiz.
  10. ...or your 8.6 or better :-) Coming up on the one-year anniversary. Your smallie post was revived and I just had the pleasure of reading it for the first time
  11. I'm glad he brought it back to the top - I joined after this was posted so this was my first time reading it. I remember reading the post about how FC's fish was the same as the one that kid caught before, but never saw the original. What amazing pictures and fish! And we're coming up on the 1 year anniversary - it's time for him to catch that fish again after she's grown a bit ;D
  12. Hey New Hampsha guys - what's the ice situation up there? Is any of it melting or is it still thick? I am looking so forward to catching smallies up there this spring/summer/fall.
  13. Good question, I'm kind of curious myself. I do know that often when you find cover on or near changes in bottom composition, you'll find a good fish-holding area. Some of my better smallie spots are in the areas where grassy bottom with stumps meets rocky/sandy bottom. Oh man I can't wait until the ice breaks in NH
  14. Tremendous. Great interview Glenn. Very informative and it provided good insight into Ike and what type of guy he is.
  15. Northern bass have longer average lifespans. You can probably Google it.
  16. I just bought a spool of 20lb yellow Sufix too! Haven't tried it yet because I'm waiting to get my reel back from Reelmech, but as soon as I try it out, I'll post a review. I do like the idea that it's quieter than Power Pro, and the fact that it's 6 strand instead of 4 strand...can't wait
  17. fishizzle - about burning a spinnerbait. You ever try the Strike King rocket shad? It's like a mini spinnerbait with a single colorado blade, but a very short arm and a large heavy head. It's the best spinnerbait I've found if you really want to burn it, there's no spinnerbait out there (that I've found) that you can reel faster without it shooting out of the water. You can cast the thing a mile too.
  18. Tent? That thing's more like a house ;D That thing looks very nice.
  19. Not havin' too much luck lately Perfect Hook Set? It's still really early and the fish still aren't too active yet. If one of you CT guys wants to go out this weekend and catch a bunch of fish on jerkbaits, PM me. I may take the canoe out to Silver Lake in Berlin/Meriden. You're guaranteed (until I typed that) to catch a bunch of (smaller) fish, including LMB, perch, crappie, and pickerel. The place is loaded, and the fish are starting to become pretty active. My brother and I caught 8 fish together yesterday in an hour, fishing from shore. It's even better when you can get out to the good spots. This lake is a great place to get your fix ;D
  20. I have several of those, and love them for nightfishing as well. Maybe I'll try them out at the cold muddy pond. Bedman and bass44 - thanks for the ideas
  21. Virtua Fighter Super Mario for Super Nintendo Smash Brothers N64 (was that '90s?) - nothing better than getting 4 guys together with some drinks and stuff, and just playing Smash Brothers for a few hours. ;D
  22. Congratulations You should be able to find one of the 10,000 lakes that has some fish in it. I'd love to spend a summer in MN.
  23. I'm really glad all the ice is gone - how depressing is this picture? ...and that's all for now, folks.
