  1. So I assume all the stillwater is frozen, or close to it, up there? We just got a ton of rain in CT so all the ice is melted. Gonna try my luck this weekend 8-)
  2. Or you could get the best of both worlds by using a flourocarbon leader when you're fishing around rocks and clams. Uni to uni is the knot I like most.
  3. x2 - I have a Premier casting rod that's about 2 years old and has gotten beaten up quite a bit. Great spinnerbait/chatterbait rod. No problems at all.
  4. I've used both, and I prefer Power Pro. It's limper and a little quieter. And usually a little cheaper. Are you sure your knots aren't slipping? If they are actually breaking, just cut off a few feet of the line. All braided line frays a little bit with heavy use.
  5. I often *** my dogs when I take them out for a walk. "Just realized I have to poop. This spot smells good. Done. Why are you picking it up you sick freak? Let's keep walking!" Imagine having that kind of freedom. On the other hand, I often say a little prayer of thanks for being a guy. Imagine having to sit down everytime you pee. Man, that would suck in a very big way. Hopefully, for their sake, none of the females on this board sees this thread 8-)
  6. Instead of graphing them, we should be trying to get rid of them
  7. That's amazing. Like you said, unimaginable class.
  8. Well for CT it was ridiculously warm yesterday (high in the mid-50's) and it rained all day, which means my ponds are almost all ice-free now. It's not supposed to be too cold today and tomorrow, so I'm going BASS fishing this weekend ;D I'll post a report. I don't think this qualifies as a legitimate pre-trip post, so it shouldn't jinx me.
  9. I bet that was a tasty meal The two times I've kept crappie, I went to fillet them 3 hours or more after I caught them and put them in the cooler, and they started flopping around, unbelievably. I almost soiled myself because I was sure they were totally dead. Is it just me or do those things stay alive forever?
  10. And give up the Snip? More bass for me (the eyes on this smiley make me dizzy)
  11. Those Bosch Icon blades look amazing. I see them as a self-Christmas present very soon.
  12. This is one of which I'm particularly proud. Enjoy.
  13. I'm about a roll per two sittings kinda guy. That means about a roll per week ;D Fantastic thread. Anyone get the three seashells? Demolition Man? Top 10 worst movies ever?
  14. Shoulda, coulda ,woulda Well you dida.
  15. Don't you know how to use the three seashells?
  16. Those are some sweet updates. Thanks I like the new, slightly different smileys too, especially this one
  17. An apt title for your thread ;D
  18. 1. stickbait is a staple, probably the easiest bait to use to catch pond bass. I have come to prefer wacky rigging with a 1/0 Owner wacky hook. 2. hollow frogs in the summer on my weedy ponds. Sometimes I'll for a walk with one rod, one frog, and a pair of pliers. Its a great way to spend a couple hours. 3. Terminator 3/8 double willow leaf spinnerbait. Great around the weeds or really anywhere. In the early spring I like jerkbaits and inline spinners around the emergent weeds, water temps from the high 30's into the low 50's. Early spring jerkbait fishing is a great way to catch tons of fish.
  19. I also love using SPRO frogs, pitching/flipping plastics with pegged sinkers, and dropping weightless stickbaits on the edges. One thing I'll add... the Berkley Bladedancer is a great lily pad lure. It has a very unique action on the surface, and also awesome action when you let it fall into pockets or on the pad edges. The lure takes a while to get used to, but it's a great weapon that the bass rarely see. To be honest, I'm not sure why this lure isn't more popular than it is.
  20. Either this weekend or next I'm going to the Salmon River in NY to catch some steelhead. Lookin' forward to it 8-) By the way, thanks for the link to those light bulbs. That's much cheaper than actually buying these lamps from the SAD sites. I'm gonna give the bulbs a shot and see what happens.
  21. Good info guys. I actually did join a gym and I've been working out (lost 30 lbs in the last 4 months or so ), and I'll probably start skiing again this year, but all that aside, it's just the cold and the lack of sunlight that get to me. I love being outdoors, but I can't be outdoors for long in the winter because it hurts, especially without that insulating layer I had before. Any of you guys have experience with these sun lamps? I've heard they work well...but that's from the sites that sell them, so I'm not sure if it would be worth it. J Francho - have you used them? And Hawk - I lived in Miami, FL for 10 years when I was a kid. Love it there and would like to move back at some point, but I can't right now.
  22. I've never used them, but this year I entirely stopped worrying about bait separation. I think it started when I saw an episode of City Limits and Ike's tackleboxes had no dividers, and about 5 times as many crankbaits as I've ever seen in a single Plano. I thought, "Well if it works for Ike, I guess it should work for me too." I have become much better at jiggling the lures around to get them un-stuck, but it takes some practice ;D Definitely easier not worrying about having each lure in it's designated place. I know if I bought hook bonnets, they'd end up on the floor, then in my trunk, then eventually in the garbage or on eBay after my annual car-cleaning routine 8-)
  23. Favorite way to flip/pitch... 7' MH Crucial Revo STX 40lb Power Pro 20lb flouro leader 3/8 Eakin's Jig w/ Rage Tail craw trailer Pitch/flip laydowns. Love it.
  24. Anyone have this? I'm pretty sure everyone has it to a certain extent, but I've realized that I'm generally not happy when it's winter - it's cold, ponds frozen, dark when I wake up, dark when I get home from work. I'm not depressed, but just a little less happy in the winter. My point is, has anyone tried those sun lamps? I'm considering buying one if it makes me feel better, but don't want to spend $100 to $300 bucks on a lamp that won't do anything special.
  25. Too bad it wasn't better, but you did it to yourself. Avoid the pre-trip post ;D At least you didn't get skunked. Half of the fun is the anticipation anyway, and it sounds like you did a good bit of that.
