  1. Hank Paulson needs to be in jail. Don't you think the fact that the new Pres didn't specifically say how his administration is going to tackle this had any effect on the market? It was the single biggest inauguration day drop in the market, ever...coincidence? I think the fear is that B.O.'s squad is gonna try to tax-and-spend their way out of this - business as usual. Regardless, this is a pretty scary time for sure.
  2. It seems kinda funny to me that you pay taxes on unemployment checks. Imagine if I ask a friend for 5 bucks for a pack of smokes (although they cost way more nowadays), he gives me 8 bucks and says that I owe him 3 bucks in April, but that the smokes were on him My best friend is collecting unemployment this winter, which is pretty common amongst assistant golf pros up here. He said they take the average of the two quarters in which he made the most money over the last 18 months, and that's the check amount.
  3. Hookem - great list. Pogs were awesome. I'm sure I still have all my slammers somewhere. I loved Hot Wheels birthday parties. And Yikes pencils. ;D
  4. Climate change*, obviously. *Formerly known as "global warming".
  5. A strong argument against taking any kind of PETA-supported action.
  6. Well that will happen in omaha especially. We've all been there man. Nice finish though. Too bad it wasn't a $300 buy-in ;D I've been doing low-limit on Full Tilt lately, trying to get my touch back. I took about a 6 month break after a ridiculous cold streak, but I'm starting to feel it again. I'll stick with Hold'em though. pot limit and no limit Omaha hi/lo intimidates me.
  7. No limit Omaha hi/lo? That's a pretty intense game - too intense for me. How'd you end up doing?
  8. As usual, I kept worrying about when it was gonna end. I thought they were pretty good, but not as action-packed as previous openers. They need to work more torture in. Nothin' better than watching Jack torture a terrorist 8-)
  9. I love Cabela's, but the in-store selection is crap. Their rod selection is terrible, but that's because people buy the cheapo rods 20 to 1, so you can't blame them. Half the time you see a higher-end rod, it's been on the rack and horsed around so much that there's almost always a slight defect (bent guide, chipped epoxy, even broken tips). Even so, Cabela's is by far the best fishing store in my area, and their customer service is unparalleled. Kinda off-topic, but twice I've watched the bass in the tank at closing time, and they turn off the lights in the tank. It's incredible - while in the light, the bass just kinda watched the baitfish, then the lights go out, and it's their cue. They go into an absolute feeding frenzy, and literally within minutes, the entire school of baitfish has been demolished. It's awesome watching largemouth, smallies, pike, crappies, bluegills, mudfish and catfish go all-out.
  10. bilgerat - Yeah he paid for the converter. I had no idea there might be programs like that. Should the auto shop not have mentioned something? He might have gotten sham-wow'd. davis - Yeah, scrap it already. It's not worth much, it's had nothing but problems, and it needs a new transmission. The cost of the transmission would be quite a bit more than the car is worth. I guess it was just a bad apple. I'm driving a '97 Chrysler Sebring two door that hasn't had a single serious problem (knock on wood) other than minor things, but this Taurus is just a pile. Muddy - good idea. Not sure about that, but I'm not sure it would be worth all the effort anyway. Time is also a factor as it's pretty tough to get around a suburb without a car. Thanks for the info guys 8-)
  11. I'll have no part of this. Just kidding - I'm in
  12. How do you deal with line twist? Awesome steelhead by the way. I have no idea what the second fish is.
  13. Come on, it's not the cat's fault. But if you still want to do that, make sure you skin it first. It comes out better that way.
  14. Thanks guys. What we'll probably do is scrap his car, I'll get the money, give him my car (which probably only has a couple years left anyway), and get a new(er) one myself. I know it depends on many things, but anyone have a very rough guess what it's worth if we scrap it? It just really sucks that he basically threw all that money away on repairs (at least the labor cost) so soon before it died. C'est la vie :
  15. Hi Gents, Quick question - my brother's transmission is shot on his '03 Taurus. It really sucks because he just put 1250 into it for repairs (brand new catalytic converter and some other miscellaneous repairs), just put two brand new tires on it 3 days ago, and just paid CT registration for the year - $85. Anyway, we were thinking of just scrapping it. Our auto guy said he could use the parts, but it probably won't be much money. Very approximately, what do you think it's worth, and do you think scrapping it would be best? It's a black '03 Taurus that needs a new transmission. Honestly, this freakin' car has been such a pain in the butt ever since he got it. Nothing but trouble. Thanks 8-)
  16. That's one of the coolest videos I've ever seen. Thanks!
  17. ;D "When your name can also be used as a verb that means driving a hook through your head, it's time for a serious image makeover." I'm reminded of a great line in Dumb and Dumber - "Wow! You are one pathetic loser!" (no offense) - "Oh, no, none taken." These people are so pathetic. Just wasting their lives away. I'm convinced that PETA employees and sympathizers have a mental disorder - seriously.

  19. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be picking up a few of these, and I'll post a review once I use them in the distant future :-/
  20. Cool. Did he say anything specific about them? I just wonder how they compare to an MS Slammer. A 9" slammer usually costs around $40, so if the Woody is comparable, that would be awesome.
  21. I watched the first seasons by renting the DVDs from Blockbuster. Bad idea. There's really no way you can get yourself not to pop in the next episode until you're done with the whole series, even if it's 4 in the morning and you have work the next day. On a side note, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Jack Bauer would emerge victorious from a fight with Chuck Norris.
  22. Has anyone used these? They seem to be just like an MS Slammer, but IMO they look much better. How come I haven't heard much about these? http://www.mattlures.com/woodwaker.htm
  23. Soon? You mean April? I wish April were soon. I'm definitely willing to do something like this, but we have some serious time ahead of us until ice-out. Hopefully it's sooner than later, but I have a feeling the next few months are gonna be harsh.
  24. Can you at least pretend to be cold and wear a windbreaker and jeans or something? Wearing shorts and t-shirts is like farting in my general direction. Nice outing by the way
  25. Awesome pictures man You are a true multi-species fisherman. Seeing the pictures of those spring/summer bass makes me want to go bass fishing right now.
