  1. I lost my True Temper "UNISPIN" years ago, but i do still have a Zebco cardinal 4 that was not quite as popular as my old Mitchell 300c's. Yes, they are retired....
  2. I mostly throw the old Cordell hot spot (1 knocker), but will use traps, raps, super spots. My least favorite is the SK diamond shad. I also remove the rear hook and swap out the front 2 sizes bigger than stock.
  3. I'm with LBH- none in my boat either. I do okay also.....
  4. Fourbizz- i feel your pain. Good idea, hope you get some response. Hope nobody will paint 4 for every 5..... :
  5. Natural, clear lakes under 1500 acres. Most have depths to at least 50',no standing timber, very little rock, all kinds of weeds, visibility to 8' minimum. Houses on just about every inch of shoreline, very little pressure from "good" anglers, and a lot of pike. There is about 20 lakes like this within a 45 minute drive from my house. I love it.
  6. Never heard of the man, but would consider him a fishing brother. How tragic at such a young age. My thoughts go out to his family and friends, and all who knew him. Life can be short - love all you can.
  7. If i could only use 1 lure, i would quit fishing. I can't pick one lure. Someone would have to pick it for me. I don't think i could pick 1 just for the day. It would be a soft plastic of some sort, but you make good arguments for jigs. Okay, i wouldn't quit fishing, but i know that i wouldn't go nearly as often. It's too much fun catching them on different lures/techniques. Well, maybe i would go out just as many times, but would enjoy it less. (at least you are fishing). Who am i kidding? I would fish with 1/2 of a lure, and couldn't wait until the next time i go out...
  8. This list looks more like the greatest selling lures of all time. Field & Stream? I am surprised that they even heard of a senko!
  9. April and October i can get by with 1 "3700" size box along with 4 "wraps". The months inbetween, well, that is a different story. I do plan on limiting ;D what i carry in the boat this year....
  10. I too have a time and place for 1/8 to 1 oz., and will use all sizes sometime throughout the season. The size i use most is a 1/4 oz. frame with a 1/4 oz rubbercore sinker clamped on behind the pearl blue glimmer skirt.
  11. IMHO, it doesn't make any difference what color a surface lure is, if you fish in daylight. Always black at night though. I repainted a few with a perch pattern on the bottom to see if it would make any difference, but the jury is still out. It gives me a little more confidence, but really no extra bites.
  12. I must start off by saying that i do not get the Outdoor channel, so i have never seen any shows there. So my choices are limited to espn,vs, and fsn. It's so cold right now that i will watch ANY fishing show.My favorites: Bass Pros, Angling Edge,In-Fisherman,WGFS,Hunt For Big Fish. 2 shows make me feel like i'm a pretty good fisherman: Fishing University (has Charlie EVER caught a bass over 14"?)and Bassin Edge(makes Ingram look like a pro). Worst? i would have to say Beat ON Charlie Moore- that's the only show that i can turn off.
  13. I plan on changing mine this year before the season starts. I have a '96 50hp Evinrude (since new) and have had no problems so far. A little over 500 trips, maybe 500 hrs. usage, and i'll find out how much wear.
  14. So - it seems that all but 1 of us can slay them on a Helicopter Lure!! ;D I was wondering if anyone would mention them. For me, it's spoons- casting or jigging types, but i gave up on them years ago. Only caught 1 on a buzzbait, and nothing on a trick worm.
  15. Matt, if i lived in Tx. , i wouldn't own #4 test line either. Up here in Mi., you can see 12' deep in most every lake, and i use it in april and a little into may for small baits. Heck, i've only caught 3 over #4 my entire life.(musky, pike,&walleye not included). Man, that sounds sad if you knew how many hours i've been on the water. :-[
  16. Last year my partner and i had 2 competitions that were fun. The first one we had to use 4# line, and the second one we were limited to 5 baits. This year we are going to have a solid black/solid white lures only, and wondering if any of you do this or have ideas..
  17. This is great everone, thanks for sharing. Alot of this sounds familiar to me....
  18. Very nice work. Repainting is a lot of fun, (i've done about 50) plus you can get some ugly baits from the bargain bins that need attention too.

    Spoons

Wish i had $.02 worth, but i don't. The next fish i catch on a spoon will be my first. And that will be tough, because i haven't had one in my box for 20 yrs. I know they work, but not for me. Can anyone tell us a situation where nothing but a spoon would work? Any help is welcome... :-/
  20. I tell my wife that these are "classics" and i'm afraid to use them.
  21. I had the timber buzz, caught a 19"lm my first time out (for the yr.) about 15 yrs. ago. There was still a little ice around some of the banks , and i fished for 4 hrs. without a bite. Tried my new Timber buzz and on my 2nd cast caught that fish. I used it for a few months after that and never got another bite until a pike took it. iI would like another one, but i can't find one either....

    Snaps

I use snaps on all cranks and spinnerbaits. (i make my own closed-eye spinbaits). Seems to me, tying to a split ring is asking for trouble with those sharp edges. I remove the split ring from the bait if it doesn't have the concave bill like a Rapala (or others). Oh, and i'll race anyone that thinks they can tie a knot faster than i can work a snap!
  23. The only way i'll throw a Lucky Craft is when someone gives me one. I will NEVER buy one. I have never had a bass tell me that" his grandma would have ate my lure, but since it didn't say LC on it, she turned her nose up and swam away, so i ate it." Seems to me that folks will buy anything to cover up their lack of catching skills. Save your money and fish smarter! p.s.: i lose about 5 cranks a year to those toothy critters, and i would be pi$$t if i spent $12 apiece for them... >
  24. This is largest bass in all of KAZAKHSTAN ! High 5! She hit lure made by the gypsys...VERY NICE!
  25. 3/4 oz. white spinnerbait w/ Big gold willows,a 5/8 oz old Rogers "alphabet' shallow crank, and a 3/4 oz. original BOMBER.
