  1. Chartruese/white laminate. There is no other.
  2. I usually swap to a red front treble, not because i catch more, but i bought a bunch and might as well use them. :-/ On 3/8 oz to 1/4 oz. cranks i go up 1 size on the front treble. On 1/8 oz., i go up 2 sizes (front) and remove the back hook. I also remove the linetie ring unless i can't get a cross-lok snap in the eyelet. If there's room, a larger split ring on the front treble of smaller cranks. If i think the color is too bright, i fade it with the sun. Bargain - bin "uglies" get a repaint.Weight cranks (not jerks) to suspend.
  3. Some of the lakes i fish only have 4-10 parking spots for the public access. So, alot of times, i don't even give up the lake, let alone a spot on the lake. I'm not into being secretive, just want to be able to fish the lake i'm driving to.
  4. 92 5 oh, the folks on this site are the best. The knowledge and experience on any facet of fishing can be found here. What i like most is that Everyone here LOVES to fish. (not like our part-time fishing buds) If there's something you want to know, you can usually find here. Oh, and welcome!
  5. They're all good. I have one (don't know who makes it) and use it more than i would like to. I'm even thinking of getting a second one, if the wind keeps getting stronger. These last 2 years have been the windiest that i can remember. ALL boats should have one.
  6. I have the same experience as Curado, had 2 that didn't last longer than 2 years. And i'm not even catching 6# fish. I loved them the first year though. I didn't give them proper service, and i'm sure that has something to do with it. If you fish only 10-20 times a year, then by all means go with graphite. My deep cranks and spinnerbaits love the aluminum!
  7. Got 7" of snow last night- yippeee!

    new finish

I'm kinda sick of the word awesome, but i can't think of a better one right now. Have to get the thesaurus out. Boy, those are some small flakes! And how they pop!
  9. Sorry Laurentino, but those lures are worthless. I would suggest you put all of them in a box and send them to me as soon as possible. Feel free to throw in any other lures with them. ;D
  10. I didn't know that so many of our family were BIOLOGISTS! How did you find out that there were no sallies in the waters you are fishing? I was just wondering..i learned long ago that just because you don't see something doesn't mean it's not there. :-?
  11. What if the lake doesn't have shad? :-?
  12. Sorry florida friends- you don't stand a chance! The north will reign by ego alone. ;D I'm still waiting for my invite to your lake Ray.
  13. That is a good question. Twice in my life i have caught a lm and a pike on consecutive casts. Once on a dd22 along the deep weed-edge at about 16' deep, the other on a spinnerbait on a weedy flat. I'm sure all of us have caught one species on a spot, and later that day, or the next time out caught a different species on that same spot. My vote is yes.
  14. 5 yrs. ago this spring i caught the only musky of my life on 4# line and a 1" white curly tail on a 1/64 oz. head. It was my 3rd time out that spring, and my wife was along with me. I had caught (all small) a lm,sm, white bass, and 1 crappie. Went into a little canal and pitched it to a dock. This lake is the only lake i fish that i can't see 1' below the surface. When that musky swam off i thought it was a carp also. I was hanging on for dear life. My wife got the camera ready to take a picture if i was lucky enough to get a look at it. I fought that fish for probabally 10 minutes (felt like a 1/2 hr.), and on the third pass next to the boat, i tried to grab him by the collar, but i couldn't get my hand across his back to collar and lift aboard.(i don't believe in nets) I was able to lift it about a foot out of the water before it shook & i freaked and let it drop. Of course the line snapped, but my wife got a couple of shots of it near the surface, and the head and about 1' of it's body before i let go. It was about 48" long....
  15. I think L/C baits look beautiful, and if i owned some i probabally wouldn't use them, they would go in a display case. I catch too many pike and would be concerned about bite-offs. But 2 to 3 times the cost of most cranks? What makes it so expensive? The best trebles are what-$1 apiece, high quality split rings-.45 for 3, paint-.30,add .20 of plastic and there you go- a $3 crank. I've used over 300 cranks in my life and i don't think 10 of them didn't run right out of the package. There were only 2 that i couldn't fix. Not bad. These lures did what they were supposed to according to their design (dive to 8',suspend, or whatever). So really, the cost is in the mold. But, even though i won't buy them, i hold no hard feelings towards anyone that does. Unless other companies start raising their price for no other reason than "look what l/c gets for theirs". I personally think they are ripping you off, but can a willing person get ripped off? :-/
  16. Forget karma, off with their hands!
  17. I tried this last year. Found an old crawler harness at the ramp. Wacky-rigged those 2" senko-type worms on all three hooks and sent it flying to my favorite mid-lake hump (14'/25'), and sat down to eat my lunch. About 4 bites into my sandwich, i looked up and noticed.... just kidding. I would dropshot them also.
  18. What broke? What kind of knot? Hunh?
  19. Sorry folks- but the Hellbender was made by Whopper Stopper and not Heddon. The w/s has the heart shaped bill, and the other popular lure like this was made by Bomber, and had a rounded lip.(called the Water Dog). I don't think Heddon made a lure like that. Anyways, I have a half dozen of these that never see water anymore...
  20. What kind of crank causes line twist? That would be some special one there- folks! (maybe during the cast) Oh, and Josey Wales- while you re-tie i re-snapped and caught 2 nice ones.... 8-)
  21. Nope. Never seen such a lure. I have some that i would be bummed if i lost. But, a lost lure is just an excuse to buy 2 of them next time...
  22. In march, i look only 1 place to find bass - at BPS. Otherwise, walk out to your favorite deep dropoff, cut a hole, and lower a dropshotted tiny fluke AND HOLD ON TIGHT!.....
  23. Don't think that you HAVE to bang into something while retrieving a cb. Bass don't wait around for a bluegill to bounce off the bottom, or a minnow to deflect off the weeds before he will hit. If they did, there would be a lot of small, hungry bass in your lake....
  24. Thanks for taking the hit from the monkey for us...looks like fun.
  25. Ernel those look great...there is some serious talent on this site. Thanks for the extra veiw, also.
