  1. Thank you Paul Roberts for taking the time to share with us, that was alot of typing, but a Great read. I think Paul has been fishing for awile....
  2. Thanks dave - that's the kind of answer i was looking for.
  3. Just wondering - anybody use a steady - methodical retrieve on anything other than a buzzbait? If so, please tell me what lure type and your success as i don't fish that way and am curious. Whatever i throw gets little tugs, snaps, pauses, twitches,or something. A curly-tail grub is about as close as i get to a steady retrieve, but i still work it a little. Am i missing something?
  4. Raul has it right..try all and let your experience tell you what to do. So what if your bait doesn't "track" perfectly during a retrieve, or rolls or skips a little, all the more to attract a fish. Sometimes i want my cranks "toned down" a little. More importantly- wonder if you are in the right area....
  5. Raul doesn't shop with a wallet. He shops with a breifcase!
  6. That's a cool lookin' tool you got there , Wayne. What is on the other end of it ?
  7. I haven't seen any on beds yet, but i have seen some cruising the shallows Sunday in Oakland co..
  8. Here's a few i still throw: Cordell's original spot, Crankbait Corp.'s (don't remember the names),Whopper Stopper's Hellbender & Hellraiser, Bomber Waterdog, Pinfish, and original Bomber,Lindy shadlings,Mann's Razorbacks,Storm's Thinfin, and a couple of 70's Shakespeare's wooden topwaters. The first 2 stay in my box, the others i'll break out a couple of times a year.(mostly retired)
  9. I'll stick with it unless they're dinks. (or if my bud in the back seat wants to keep on catching).
  10. Hey guys- good to get fishing again. Went out sat. (windy), 9lm,2sm,8rb, and 2 of those crappie. Not much size, but ul & 4# line helps. I was surprised at the water temps. being pretty high for this time of year. I used to vacation on Otsego lk, like to fish Margrethe, Houghton, and Clam lk. when i can. I normally fish southern Oakland co. Personal bests to us all.....
  11. You ALL have it wrong. Nice guesses though. It will be whatever they call that ridicolus (?) buzzbait that B.D. hawks. You know the one, it has a frame that's like 18" long. They will also come out with a saltwater version for tuna, billfish and the like. So, you get yourself a dozen of these baits to beat the rush. You have to get a special kvd SUPER-BUZZBAIT-BINDER to carry them in. Oh yes, the lure requires a "special" rod that rm is testing for production as i write this.
  12. I agree with color not being very important. Location, depth, speed, size, THEN color. Just don't look at my tacklebox without my consent.
  13. ALL soft plastics can have a pocket if you use a syringe. Or use a small drillbit to bore a hole, stuff a little cotton in there, add your scent.
  14. I had 1 back in the day, never caught anything on it, but when i moved,my new neighbor loved them so i gave it to him. I liked the craw and caught a number of bass & pike on them, but they got destroyed. Closest thing i have ever seen to a live craw. And for T. Tony:Could you call it "stink bait" if it doesn't stink? ;D sorry....
  15. Well, here we go. Another NFL draft. (lion's superbowl) I have been a season ticket holder for the stupid lions since 1981. Draft day is considered the superbowl for lions fans, since they can't even make the playoffs. Oh look, they drafted another reciever!
  16. I promised myself that i wouldn't get into another discussion on this subject. :-X
  17. I'm hoping to get out this weekend, so what do i know... but, don't only fish slow, they caught them on ratltraps! Don't be afraid to mix it up is all i'm saying.
  18. And i thought they came from half-lipped lampreys......
  19. They want us to fish, they just want more of our arse, not to mention another reason to "stop by & say hello". (this is not a political statement, so please don't kick me off the site)
  20. Welcome 10 more min., this place is a lot of fun. Good to have another northerner in our posse...
  21. I can kinda get over the earrings, but that thumbring? What the? Well, to each their own. Just hit me with a big stick if you see me with any of that stuff.... i'm just an oldtimer.
  22. I tried a 3 hook/bait dropshot rig a couple of times last year with no results, BUT IT LOOKED COOL, like my own little school of minnows. I think it has promise, but lookout if i ever run into a pack of smalljaws!
  23. The only time i feel that the bites will be few and far-between is in the middle of summer with no clouds or wind. That really makes me work for a bite...
  24. You found open water?
