  1. I still have a pack of Lindy's , and 1 pack of Knight's tube worms that will not be opened. Culprit black/grape 5"(?) and 7.5" are the only "regular" worms i buy. I rig them on a slider-type jighead. (don't like t-rigging worms).
  2. Took my buddy out yesterday and he had a 30" on and another pike about a foot longer was CHASING it!!! The line broke so we never got the chance to see if that big one took a nip...
  3. WRB-i agree that dragging or bouncing a bass on the carpet is an ugly thing. So is jerking & swinging them into the boat. These are some of the problems i have with tournements, no matter they be pros or the weeknight guys. I also agree that putting 5 fish in a livewell isn't that good of a deal either. I think that the redfish guys have it right with a 2 fish limit. Or how about a biggest fish tourney? That way you only have to keep 1 alive, and cull as you go. I know you tourney folks think that i am "a little" off on this one, but think it through for a little while. Anyways, as long as people follow the state laws, i really don't have a problem.
  4. My pike numbers are WAY down from last year. I haven't even caught a keeper yet. I have been keeping a log since '99, and though it's rare that i purposely fish for pike, this has been my worst year yet. Last year was my best year for pike...go figure. Anyways, feel free to chime in, i was just wondering. :-?
  5. Depends on how deep you intend to fish. May i suggest "clam shot" instead of split shot.. or better yet- peg a worm sinker.
  6. LIVESTRINGERS? Just curious WRB- where is it that you put the bass while you're running to your next spot? I find it very hard to believe that fish on a string can survive "better" than one that is in a box, floating upright, breathing more naturally, in water that can be cooled with ice. I thought stringers were for keeping, not releasing. It just sounds like a dumb concept to me. Any bass competition should require LIVEWELLS, unless you plan on eating it.
  7. I can't understand why anyone would have a rod shorter than 6'6". Maybe if one fished from a kayak or canoe, but that is just too short for anything else. Yes, a med. action is fine for all but the deepest divers.
  8. I have tried some of the "older" cranks they still sell. The baitfish and med. divers work ok (4 of 6), but will not buy any more. The 4'" & 5" deep divers ran good ,at least the 4 i painted up so far. They feel more like a Strike King than a DD22 during retrieve. Been wanting to try some of their newer line- up, but i really do have enough cranks. Honest. ;D
  9. I once caught 22 fish on 23 casts on a point one day. Lm,sm,rock bass, walleye, crappie and bluegill/sunfish. 3" white twister on a 1/8 oz. jighead. It was ridiculous! What-no pike? I felt like i really knew what i was doing. Gotta hit that point every time i visit that lake....
  10. I have a 6-6 ul (4#) that i like to use early in the season, then switch to a 7'ml (6#) in june. 2500 size reel (don't like those ul spool dia.) No taking bass waterskiing with this setup.
  11. Learned it? I thought he just waterskied(?) past me....
  12. I have had mine since july 07 , and as my main bc, i have had no problems so far...
  13. I don't see R. Clunn chiming in, he claims all his rods are the same. When i first saw him say that on t.v., i'm thinking holy crap! Then listened to his reasoning- (same feel, no matter the bait, same reel-so he doesn't have to remember ratios) holy crap again! I love ya Rick, but you may be losing it. It's not that hard to remember which rod i use for cranks and which one i use for dropshot, etc. I'm calling him out!
  14. Muddy- it smells good though...
  15. Hey Stump, don't get discouraged. Watching tv shows & dvd's can help alot, but time on the water is just as important. BASS RESOURCE can actually better than watching t.v., there are alot of good anglers sharing their know-how, with varied opinions on more topics & tactics than you can get from a dvd or even a series of dvd's. Also, you (hopefully) can learn things even if you don't catch anything. Invite someone that you or your dad knows (that has more experience catching) to come out with you guys and fish with you. I agree with "my brother" as a drop-shot rig as my favorite slumpbuster too. Tight lines to you both....
  16. I guess your talking about a used boat. I have a 15'11" alum v-hull ,50 hp o/b, and all the fixins and wouldn't dream of trying to tow it with a 4cyl car. (unless turbo and nitrous assisted) The v6 S10 i had when i bought the boat didn't tow it very well. I have never had 3 adults in my boat fishing as it would be too crowded for the way i cast!
  17. Quit charging full price for your "practice" games. And why do you have games on thursdays? You suck.
  18. It is spelled FAVRE, not farve. As a Lions season ticket holder since 1980, i have seen him every time he's in town, i think the lions only beat him 3 times at home. Noone will look good when this is sorted out. Can't blame the pack, he's thought of retirement the last 4 or so years, and they must plan on the future. On the other hand, can't blame brett for changing his mind and wanting to play. I've seen too many lions that DIDN'T want to play. So, the only logical thing to do is to NOT trade them to the Vikes (instant super bowl champs) but to a harmless Detroit team. :-[
  19. I totally agree with Falcon, but will buy regular Sten clr/blu/flo when the store doesn't have Trilene XL. These are "musts" when i'm using soft plastics or jigs. Cranks and spnrb8s- don't care what color as long as it's mono. :-?
  20. Wayne, with yellow line i would say 6' or more. No bannanas or yellow line in my boat! Start with at least 4', and that will allow more re-ties before you have to start over.
  21. Wayne- you beat me to it. If you don't want to carry soap, just swish your hand in the water & wipe them dry on your towell. But DO wear it.
  22. Between 250 to 1000 acres, but the 1 i fish most is around 350.
