I live within 45 minutes from a BPS, Cabela's,Gander Mt., and 2 Dicks stores. By far, bps has the most and best selection of bassin stuff. Cabelas has maybe 50% less than bps, which is followed closely by gander mt. And I have a better selection than both Dicks put together...
Pay attention to your forum posts. Just got done looking at the General fishing topics, and out of 27 topics on the first page, 14 had to be moved. You need to pay more attention to the details, or you will have a hard time consistantly catching bass. You might want to try panfish.
I caught a lm a few years back that had a hook and about 8" of line coming out his butt. The hook was already passed, a little rusty, and the mono looked like about 10# test, with about 6" of it still inside. Bass may not digest a hook, but if it is small enough, they can pass it.
I'm not ready yet. This will be my 32nd year with season tickets, but it will be different for me this year. This spring i lost my ticket partner of the last 20 years and it's just not gonna be the same. But i will be ready when the time comes. RIP Bill....
I know that there are popper gurus out there, but i just don't get it. I don't think bass could care any less if it spits this way or that. And i know a bass doesn't care what i think . If a bass wants to eat, i don't think he'll refuse your bait because it doesn't sound or act just so. Who knows- maybe someday i will understand, but not now...
Make a few hundred casts with a baitcaster with braid everytime you go out, and you will see a pretty nasty spooling thumb. I would go with mono or floro.
I can understand starting kids on one, and maybe having one for a non-fishing friend, but my shock was over the pricing. Does the design not allow for faster line pick-up, or is it something they just refuse to upgrade over the last 60 or so years? J- i'm not calling them whimpy...
Afew years back i saw a video showing some glass boats (japanese) that were interesting. It kinda looked like Jack "hacksaw" Reynolds got ahold of it and sawed the back half off. Pretty much a front deck like any bass boat, but a bench in back with a tiller-steered 25hp ob in back. I doubt that they were even 10' long. Kinda cool,,,
Why do i start to laugh when i look in a catalog and see prices of these reels? $80 for a Zebco? $65 for an Abumatic? $59 for a Daiwa? Are you kidding me? The Omega is packed with 7 bearings and a 19" retrieve. 19"! The Abu has blazing speed at 22" per crank. Just curious as to why someone would even buy one. Is there a niche market for these that i am missing? Please tell me why you fish with one. Just curious....
Depends on what you started with. A little bit of cold air won't effect the water temp. much, so i would start with whatever you would use if the air temps have been constant. You're fishing northern lm not florida lm. If it doesn't work, then try something else....
I start the season t-rig, i don't want too much movement in my cold, clear waters. June is usually when i get wacky. Sometimes in the summer i'll go back to t-rig for underwater dog walkin' on a glass-smooth morning...
Growing up, dad and i fished Kelly's Plow Jockeys all the time, always shallow with only a sampo b.b. swivel. Splash a little anise oil on it and fish it slow.
