  1. I have to disagree with Capt. Phil a little bit. The diameter of my spro crosslock is larger than the o ring on the bait, so i remove the line tie split ring and attach my snap. Yes, my snap weighs more than an o ring, but c'mon, it's negligible. If you're fishing hard baits, the fish aren't gonna think" i would hit that crankbait, but it has a snap on it." They probably can't see it. And looking unnatual? I fish with unnatural looking baits (shape/color/action) . Everyone does. And i fish in clear water. Mfr's. don't include a snap because split rings are cheaper. I do tie direct to surface lures, jigs, soft plastics. My $.50 (inflation/covid) ?
  2. A $40 reel will make it very hard to learn how to use a baitcaster.
  3. I like my suspending fat free shads. (deep divers)
  4. If that swivel works good, it will catch. And if the hook is sharp.
  5. I kinda like the name. Keep it? Have fun on the site.
  6. Michigan is warmer than Tulsa for crying out loud.
  7. I usually start by power fishing mainly because i'm geeked ... i am OUT ON THE LAKE FISHING! (i don't get the chance to nearly enough) It also allows me to cover more water faster. I can count on 1 hand the # of times i powerfished the whole day.....
  8. No questions asked...because it's Ajay! ?
  9. Bummer for you Minnesota folk, no targeting pike, walleye, or bass until the middle of may ? Geeez!
  10. I got some Gambler shaky shad d/s baits last year. (trying to save $ over gycb shad shape) Some great colors, half the cost, and works. But i do not remember the bacon rind. What is it?
  11. I live 1.1 miles from my work. My boat has a 50hp o/b, and the lakes i fish are 40 minutes away and less than 500 acres. Gas prices don't really bother me, but i feel for those that have to travel far for work and/or play.
  12. I thought that fishing clear, natural lakes i should stick with whitish, bluegill , and brownish colors. My eyes were opened when i fished with a friend that makes his own. (not "assembled", but modifying a stock jig mold, etc.) Firecraw. It's a real thing even in clear water. Spring thru fall. In the spring i thought ok, that is supposed to work. But in the middle of summer? I wouldn't have thrown it, but i was hauling water in the back of his boat throwing a bluegill looking color. Meanwhile he was getting gooduns with his firecraw. I switched and started catching too. This happened a few more times throughout the season. I still throw white or bluegill first. (duh!) Firecraw next. Throwing a firecraw type color in clear water in summer goes against everything i thought i knew.
  13. Whatever i use, it will still be less than 4" long and a color that i can see. White, chartruese, pink / rage craw, ned, tube
  14. Tr46 fishing with rusty hooks? I am a little disappointed..?
  15. My dad got me started when i was around 8 years old - fishing for crappie and then later for lm with a small minnow under a pencil bobber. That was ok for a couple of years, but we wanted more. Some good fishing magazines came out in the early '70's, and i got all of them. Fake lures! Mepps size 0 plain agaila was my first lure. Then a hula popper. I was hooked. A friend of my dad showed him a Kelley's Plow Jockey. For those that don't know, it was a pre-rigged skinny worm with 3 hooks. That was it. Bass killer. We caught them for 3 years using nothing but those. After that, i wanted to fish differently than dad, so while he casted towards the shoreline, i was throwing deep. Dad never gave up his plow jockeys until he couldn't fish anymore. (health and passing 20 yrs. ago) I would love to fish with him again and show him you can catch bass in deeper water than 8'. Magazines and tv shows had the biggest influence in me. Oh, and you guys too...
  16. Yes, keep the bling under the surface, not above it.
  17. Nice job Adam. The little stories are a big plus to the pictures/adds for the winning baits. Looking forward to the other decades.
  18. Keep them coming John, your skills are a treat for all of us..
  19. That saugeye is awesome. I want one for the wall...
  20. My livewell holds soft plastics, tools, markers(buoy), and a spinnerbait wrap.
  21. What a good looking bunch of dudes ! ? (kinda wondering how daubs tricked that model into marriage) I grow a beard in oct. and shave it off in june. i haven't shaved off my mustache since 1974...( i do trim)
  22. Roland was saltwater fishing using a drone. First to scout some fish, then to take his bait to them.
  23. The baits you already have will work. Learn where, when, and how to catch fish with them, and then add to your arsenal as you see fit. You may find out that you don't like fishing with jerkbaits anyway. There, i saved you a few bucks..no thanks needed.
