After reading this all I can do is add to the confusion I grew up with spinning outfits left hand crank, picked up my first bait caster last summer, I preferred cranking it on the right. So my philosophy reel under the rod crank on left, reel on top crank on right. Whatever feels good :-?

I just floated the stretch between Maumee down to the Hwy 14 bridge, used Wild Bill outfitters, great service web site and all the convenience. This time I used a little different setup on lures. Soft plastics primarily. My best fish came on a white spinner bait w/Indiana blade 3/16th oz. & Zoom fluke Jr. size rigged w/ 3/0 ewg hook. Not as many fish as Rebel Wee Craws but bigger fish a couple Small mouth broke the 14in barrier & a Large mouth thrown in for good measure that went 15in.

Looking forward to your report I'll be there June 10th thru 14th, In the past I have used pumpkin-seed tubes and a variety of rebel wee craws

most I use the Zoom Super Fluke, but if you want to skip your lue under docks, across lily pads etc. then dig out a sluggo

Rattle -L- Trap & Rattlin Rapala I'm always tryin out some other brands when I catch um on sale, but tried and true my full price money will be spent on the above.

I've been the guy with muddy feet for years. My selection process start basic. You did mention small impoundments. Your going to want small minnow plugs lake Rapalas & whatever your brand is, also stay with 3/8th & smaller lures, light line etc. Be stealthy slip up to the water quietly and take your time. Whatever you see on TV you can downsize and try the same technique. My favorite is the 3/16th oz spinnerbait walmart carries called Mr. Money endorsed by George Cochran made by Strike King. If the body of water is real small or to target an area switch to your plastic worms.

My Bass Baby came in a few months ago, I love it BUT>>> I am by myself at least 8 out of 10 times, those wheels, 8 molded in handles. It's a blessing compared to anything else. BUT>>> if someone was with me most of the time I would prefer bigger, no problem when 2 are carrying the weight & bulk. With 2 you will want the space. I have taken others out and had as many as ten rods the restriction will come in when you add your tackle.

Sure use the line you already have, your gonna need it All kidding a side I would do a search on this site , there are already some detailed post out there that could help .

Being the guy with muddy feet and walking the bank I finally took the plunge and got myself a small boat (Bass Hunter). Love it I'm out there now Next step I want a depth finder/fish finder... I've been doing my homework reading all info this site, tips etc. I'm fishing shallow water most all the time. My guess 10ft or less. I'm lucky enough to have a game & fish lake that's over 6000 thousand acres, most people tell me the average depth is 6ft deep with 12 to 18ft holes from old lake beds. Several creek beds and millions of stumps. I'm leaning toward something like a Piranhamax 240 tri-beam, placing more importance on width of coverage than depth. Now its time to ask the folks on my favorite web site for your input. Please keep in mind I'm not putting a Thousand dollar system on a $700. dollar boat

I carry an old beat up 14ft around in the back of a pick up myself, Most days I'm by myself, run my trolling motor on the front . Just patience with the wind an time those cast where they count.

Never had one, only complaint would be the price
