  1. Shakey heads or flick shakes.
  2. Drop shot 6" roboworms, make sure you're using flouro. Jigs if they work for you. Use what you're comfortable with but if there's a cold front coming through, slowwww it down.
  3. The only thing i don't like is the seam at the top tens to open letting the tip go outside the stick jacket which is very annoying to try to pull back through.
  4. Fish baits you're confident in and have caught fish on rather then trying to conform to the conditions and lake. You can find a suitable spot for most applications.
  5. I want to go to UO and fish! But I dont think my grades are too good! Didnt they just start up? I'm also on the UO bass team. We're actually one of the older clubs out west along with ASU. Started in 2005. Just placed 2nd in the FLW college fishing western division last weekend. Good look on getting into UO.
  6. 7" anaconda bama bug on a spot remover. Toads do it for me too.
  7. I broke the tip off my GLX the other day as well... Have a tourney this weekend in arizona, leaving on thursday. They shipped my rod yesterday and it'll be here today. $50 hurts, but the warranty sure provides some peace of mind.
  8. Good choice, very good value at that price.. and i'm a daiwa guy
  9. Slowing down is what got me started. Just let it sit there for a while.
  10. Fell down about 20 wooden/mossy/wet steps walking down to a boathouse in the rain last year. Broke the tip off my avid. Broke another the other day.. Seems to be once a year on freak accidents.
  11. Yup. Most people I know use these. http://www.***.com/descpageSWMBIGHAM-BHSBT.html
  12. As far as I know, almost all the boat rentals on the lake are around $300 for 8 hours... not a very generous price. The boats at konocti harbor are quite crappy. I'd recommend hiring a guide rather then renting from konocti/disney/ferndale. These guys are awesome if you can call ahead and fish multiple days. http://www.anglersadvantageinc.com/ I stayed here over spring break in the "Mallard House". Was $75 a night, kitchen/tv/internet, slept 4. Caught a ton of fish off the dock, 2 5-6lbers. They have a roomy 12 foot aluminum rowboat you can take out as well as a couple kayaks. Definitely a good option. http://www.bellhaven.com/cottages.html What university are you from?
  13. 5-7. I second buying lure wraps, you only need a couple for your treble hook lures and they save you a LOT of hassle.
  14. Being broke is the only true medicine.
  15. +1 for the sol
  16. Ton of options for under $300. Let us know what you want to use it for. Is weight a factor? Don't overlook the JDM reels. The Alphas reels are sweet for the money. If you want one of the premier finesse baitcasters go with the pixy and you won't regret it. Consider buying used from ichibantackle.com or the forums.
  17. So i went to taco bell for the first time in like 5 years during my last tournament... What the hell is in the quesodilla? It ain't cheese. Some sort of sauce. Tastes like mayonaise and taco seasoning with some hot sauce.
  18. I use the 6'9" parabolic for jerkbaits, and it works fine for me. Put fish in the boat last tournament.
  19. http://www.tahoemountainsports.com/store/suncloud-atlas-sunglasses.shtml?gdftrk=gdfV2276_a_7c322_a_7c857_a_7c2492 I have a pair of the black / brown lenses. Work great for me and I beat the hell out of them.
  20. Don't worry about it. Fishing Teams are part of club sports. As long as you pay your dues and fill your forms you will automatically be accepted to the team. If the school you go to dosn't have a team, you can always form your own club. Down south there are a ton of teams fishing in the FLW events, so you might not be able to fish them your first year if your club elects to send upper classmen.
  21. The tournaments are great.. I just fished the Western Division on saturday at Clear Lake. Its very organized, the stage is amazing and they make it fun. Sounded like everyone had a great time with their pros, and two teams fished with Jimmy Reese and Mike Folkstead. Here's some pictures my brother posted for me from the tournament. You can check out the stage. They interview everyone that weighs in. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1236561332
  22. Senkos can be used at almost any time of the year. Drop shot presentations, and jerkbaits are good pre-spawn baits as fish are transitioning from deep to shallower water.
  23. This makes me miss my babies... My pixy, alphas 103, alphas ito are in the mail and on their way back from a drag upgrade/clean/lube. :'(
  24. http://www.collegefishing.com/schedule.cfm Click on one of tournaments in the college's division and if they are participating they will be listed under "registered teams" in the upper right.
