Yeah, it's a thing with some Daiwas with that poorly positioned dial. Don't recommend anyone do this, but I took down the knurling some, works great, but it does make the brake adjustment more difficult, specially with wet or slimy hands, but I'm pretty much at the same braking for most things I throw with them.

A skinny dipper on a Seibert jig is my favorite "swimbait" It comes in at a little over 7" and it catches fish everywhere I fish it. Maybe I do need a 3/4 oz swim jig...

15-20% is customary. I sometimes net more on offshore trips working the deck than the captain makes running the boat. Small boat single man owner/operator guides varies regionally somewhat. With the increased costs of trips, the number looks big to some folks, particularly to some that don't charter much.

Fishing deep is no different than fishing shallow, get a lure in front of fish.
