  1. Not too unlike walleye or flounder fishing.
  2. Been there, done that, have the Echo 6 wooden rhino... It's a Navy base, but we are basically baby sitting AFRICOM, so you may not have to take my word for it...
  3. Ok, so the fan boys are going to say X, the keyboard commanders are going to say whatever is popular at the moment on the InterWeb, old farts are going to say the rod they bought 20 years ago, The guy who broke his rod cause he doesn't know how to fish and didn't get "satisfaction" is going to say "anything but X", etc, etc... How exactly is this reseach?...
  4. He thinks bass guys spend too much time worrying about equipment and not enough on learning how to fish...
  5. Yeah, it's a thing with some Daiwas with that poorly positioned dial. Don't recommend anyone do this, but I took down the knurling some, works great, but it does make the brake adjustment more difficult, specially with wet or slimy hands, but I'm pretty much at the same braking for most things I throw with them.
  6. Nice, I cut my teeth in Sullivan county and thereabouts many many moons ago.
  7. Unlike other flyers, ours don't aim high, our sights are properly set...
  8. Something different, could be one or more of several things.
  9. But you should...
  10. A skinny dipper on a Seibert jig is my favorite "swimbait" It comes in at a little over 7" and it catches fish everywhere I fish it. Maybe I do need a 3/4 oz swim jig...
  11. I would guess US made mid to late eighties.
  12. Older SK or Bandit maybe. Something to give it scale (pun intended) and couple of angles would help, Rebel maybe too.
  13. Or hardwire a gauge on the console like we used to do in the last century...
  14. That is the spool locking up due to a backlash, tighten the brakes, switch to 40 lb braid, and practice casting with a smoother stroke until you get the hang of it.
  15. Purple is a thing. My favorite advice is "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you"...
  16. Both Heart and Pearl Jam do great covers of Love, Rain o'er Me (and of course there is the original)... (Yes, I know it's reign)...
  17. So maybe the solution is to get drunk on beer and pee in it. The lack of rain has really aggravated the situation around me. We are expecting 2 inches tomorrow, so hopefully that will help.
  18. 15-20% is customary. I sometimes net more on offshore trips working the deck than the captain makes running the boat. Small boat single man owner/operator guides varies regionally somewhat. With the increased costs of trips, the number looks big to some folks, particularly to some that don't charter much.
  19. Fishing deep is no different than fishing shallow, get a lure in front of fish.
