Yeah, fish can't read lure packages. Most of my striper lures get a workout for LMB in the pre spawn, and pike most of the year. This spring, a tuna minnow caught a few good ones for me.

I hear this a lot, but I set them the same as all others, which is with no perceptible play, but no resistance. I never got the tighten it until the lure falls slowly or stops spinning when it hits the deck for other reels either.

10 lb YZH isn't dainty. It's either the split shot, or something abrasive in the water. Use a swivel or small dipsey the same size as the split shot, and then you'll know. I doubt it's a bad guide as it sounds like the break is occurring too close to the end to be reeled in, but maybe.
