Yeah, the tuna is good, but guys are trying to compare it to last year which was insane. I used to fly fish for fluke in Jamaica Bay many many moons ago...
I find a bit of stain makes the fishing better. Probably more a function of it being a different type of lake than the vis itself. There is different kinds of "stain", brown, green, black, tanic, to name a few. Unless we are talking a couple of inches of vis, not a lot changes. YMMVBIW.
I don't choose between them based on water clarity, rather on fish activity. Often, when they bite one they will bite the other. The main difference is that a chatter has a built in action which can be modified only somewhat, where as the swim jig doesn't and it can be anything from none to obnoxious. Don't ignore size and profile, that often makes a difference as well.
If one is fishing a reel they can spool on a cast, then they are fishing the wrong reel...
I can spool a Fuego with 50 lb braid and almost with 40 with a frog, so I relegated it to pitching.
uni, with practice you can leave a tiny tag, and it's one of the strongest knots you can tie, and it's easy and fast to boot.
Rube Goldberg called, he wants his knot back...
One of the best fluke (summer flounder) charter captains held this view, so we put it to the test, he was indeed catching more fish with fluoro, but it turns out it was something other than visibility or sinking going on, and while the "settlement" stipulated I not name him, his $ spends well.
Something close to the color of the background would be the least visible most of the time, but line visibility and bass fishing belongs in the same place as reel drag conversations...
WP, jitterbug, crazy crawler, or any other similar bait at a 45 or paralleling the bank, resist the urge to set the hook when you hear the splash, speed up a tad, and come back once the rod loads (easier said than done).
Yup, go easy though it works quick. I like to finish it off polishing with brown paper bag (old woodworking trick). Oh, and don't be lazy, take off the hooks, trust me...
ps: I wouldn't do it for SM, they like loud bright colors.
Constructive interference between gravity and holding the line between fingers too close to reel's line guide, ie user error.
It's a good thing you are into this and not cats...
