  1. I have a saying, "If you are only gonna catch one, that's the one"...
  2. If after 40 years, someone is just ok at something, that's not the thing for them, I know several folks for which this is the case in tennis and cycling in addition to fishing.
  3. Not if catching is the objective...
  4. I don't sell baits I own, "I like better" is usually only perceived, and even when it's a real thing, it's temporary. I like it when others do it though, cause I can get some back stock on the cheap at fishing shows and flea markets.
  5. Find fish and rim coolers, I leave the second part out when rec fishing.
  6. "The fear if I get it wrong" when it comes to fishing gear is inconsequential in the big scheme of life, assuming you don't go out and buy a catfish outfit, or an offshore trolling setup, it's gonna be ok, the best rod and reel (and anything else really) is the one you have, My first car was a Chevy Vega, and while it's one of the worst cars ever made, I have very fond memories, and the backseat while not the best was "adequate" for the flexibility level of two teenage kids, if you know what I mean...
  7. It's just a worm all the time, all be it a fat salty one...
  8. If it's a hobby, yeah, if it's a business, then no on loyalty.
  9. Molds? Aren't they wood?...
  10. Prospect Park braid, Bailey's pond mono...
  11. Congrats, maybe a waxing club next...
  12. Looks like brasania, goes by many names locally.
  13. Yup, the trick is to dial in the weight of the jig head and line diameter so that it kind of glides just above the bottom, and maybe ticking it once you get the hang (pun intended) of it. It's how we fish bucktails in the surf too, just much bigger and heavier stuff.
  14. Size looks good, maybe a shorter shank.
  15. Current, no current, shallow, deep, it's all the same (just like bank and boat fishing...) The goal is to present your lure wherever they are. Sure, the current will play a big role on where the fish will be, and you need to figure that out, but once you have done that, use the lure best gets to that spot. A lure will look more natural, and fish are more often than not conditioned to have prey swept down current to them, so yes, casting upstream and retrieving with the current or quartering it will usually be more productive, as can just following the lure downstream on a semi slack line.
  16. I place them face up on the corner of the kitchen counter and sprinkle a little sugar on it to trap ants...
  17. Welcome back TuRD...
  18. Are we trying to categorize lures or catch fish? A WP is much more buzzbait than Devil's horse or the like, "technique" strikes again to the peril of a basshead...
  19. I use #2 Gammy round bends and bend each point at the base so they point slightly inward, they hook themselves.
  20. That's probably because of the reel you were using, or.....
