  1. Other than manufacturing errors, silent Pop-Rs are like unicorns.
  2. I'm finding that it takes me a little over every other day to recover after a hard ride these days. I also find that it helps performance if I miss it a tad long than short, so I'm taking off 2 days more and more. Today is my birthday, born in 61, and 61...
  3. I'm wearing a uniform and putting a leg up on a barrel...
  4. It's not a design thing, it's a changing production run thing, more than most lures, depending on where and when you buy (bought) a classic Pop-R, it will be very different than others. Along with the varying size and number of bbs, the plastic, finish, and texture will all vary, not to mention the balance and floating attitude. Been through that rabbit hole, and stole the caterpillar's ******... ps: (I can't say water pipe?)
  5. On such a critical item, I'd stay with the recommended PMS, the cartridges won't go "bad" unless they are defective (have a leak) and they seldom do, they can be checked by weight, but it would suck to fall in and not have it deploy.
  6. Some reel/rod combinations do that, I just use painters tape.
  7. Time (which is money) and tide (which lifts all boats) wait for no man (who isn't an island).
  8. Yeah, but if you actually do the numbers it's almost a wash. Sure the last 3 years makes everyone think you just buy investments by throwing darts and make a killing, but the kid with the flute has been playing the tune for a while now, and the next several years are going to make earning much on investments going forward tough, trading on the other hand is gonna be good, but not for the inexperienced or faint of heart. I think I got a bit of a strategy, but if not, more fish are going to die and the ice guy is gonna be happy...
  9. Gotta love part time temp Holiday help...
  10. Yes, It's not a matter of making change, it's a matter of getting stuck with counterfeit bills. Wife worked LP, and her region (DC, Baltimore, NOVA) would get on average a few each week, sometimes more. Still have a few around the house, some were quite good, some were laughable. Hay chamba?
  11. Ah, no. You can tell most everything about a rod that way, assuming of course you know what you are looking for.
  12. For anyone watching or gonna watch East New York, The 74th is Brownsville, 73rd and 75th are East New York. The best Chinese restaurant wings were delivered via a bullet proof plexi rotating window thing (and the intercom interactions were priceless), and I'm still here, back then, you flashed a $20, and you were gonna get rolled, no if ands or butts (Philly blunts)...
  13. Makes me tired, where did I put down the pork rinds?...
  14. What happens at the Glitter Gulch, stays at the Glitter Gulch...
  15. Cubic miles, right?... "When in doubt, Charlie out" Real test taking advise at most Navy advancement exams.
  16. Yeah, I usually have between $20 and $100, more if I know I may need it.
  17. What line you should use? Don't know. I mostly use heavy mono (15-20 lb), and around heavy vegetation sometimes braid, mostly 40 lb.
  18. "Patient presents with disjointed thoughts and ideas"...
  19. I've only fished a few local and one co-angler tournament for bass, just for kicks, in the salt, it's all business and about the $, and we do very well, and have from the start, it helps that I've been commercial fishing since I was 14, none of the pre conceived notions and romanticizing the process, just a day at the office.
  20. "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" Is a great teaching tool, but the next level is making fast smooth. There are certain mechanics and physics that need to be in place, but the actual stroke will vary from person to person depending on several factors. I find that pitching a baseball, serving a tennis ball, batting, hitting a golf ball, and casting a rod are all nearly identical motions. It's all about acceleration, and incorporating more of the drivetrain as the power requirement increases, and consistency is as, or more important than magnitude. Oh, and I've been a jock all my life, and played a ton of tennis and never had any issues, and now I have an annoying lingering case of tennis elbow from shaking a thermometer to get a wet bulb temp, oh the irony.
  21. The circumference of a circle is always pi if you manipulate the units...
  22. All fresh water bodies of water are contaminated with mercury (and some other toxins), it comes from rain via direct precipitation and runoff.
