  1. I fish Stanley, Mann's, Booyah, and SK mostly, but I seldom fish them with the stock blades or skirts. I've found a few blade combinations/sizes that work well, and use whatever weight head for the speed/fall I want. I'm on a good spinnerbait bite now, only regret is the Jerkbait bite was short this year.
  2. We'll call it 5 if you promise to go shopping for fishing clothes...
  3. You can get this in hi carbon with a wooden handle or the SaniSafe plastic one. There is no better knife for cleaning small fish, and they make others for larger ones. Its the one you see most in fish houses and head boats. http://fishboneknives.com/s133n-7-dexter-sani-safe-7-inch-narrow-fillet-knife/
  4. First I'd give her the Ned Stark treatment, and then www.EasternEuropeanMailOrderBrides.com. That's just not right.
  5. Good picks, I'll add a 100 Bandit, and the way too expensive combat crank. Copper green shad should be illegal.
  6. Yup, its inevitable. We do sporting goods retailing (not fishing thank the Lord) and there is quite a bit of confusion about sales taxes. Retailer's do not "charge" sales tax, they collect it. Purchases made by out of state customer's are subject to taxes, they are just the responsibility of the buyer.
  7. Terrible picture for weight estimate, but that's a big fish. I'd say 8-9, but could be bigger or smaller.
  8. Its all about the temperature, but the temperature is directly and/or indirectly related to several other factors, which are in turn related. So to try to separate them and view them individually, doesn't make sense. Most fish have a narrow band of temperatures where they will spawn.
  9. Skip the flouro and go with 40 lb Ande. The modified albright knot works well.
  10. What do hammered blades and flouro have in common? me no use!
  11. I do too, and then add a topshot of Big Game #10-12, and forego the knot...
  12. This ^. I go so far as to cut or file the triggers, its in he way of where my pinky and ring finger want to be on some rods. Since the fulcrum is the mid point of where you are holding the rod, palming the reel will effectively make the rod feel lighter, as well as more stable. Also why the "switching hands is wrong' argument doesn't hold water.
  13. If you're ever up near NYC or DC and want to go, give me a shout. I'm jealous of you though, We may be making the FL move soon.
  14. I agree, kinda, I think a rod is specific (well suited for actually) to certain baits, wether those baits all reside in a particular "technique" or not. For example I use 4 rods for spinnerbaits, and one would be terrible for larger ones, and vise versa, same with jerkbaits, I throw everything from a #8 Husky Jerk, to a Bomber long 16A. It would be ridiculous to even attempt to fish those baits with the same rod. I think once you fish enough, you just know what you like, and what works best, I know I do, and the label can say whatever.
  15. 24 ga copper. Between that, the feathers, beads, paints, sewing machine oil, etc, I think the girls at Michael's are starting to talk.
  16. Cause fish don't buy lures, fishermen do...

  18. Are you in Colorado right now?...
  19. How Long Can You Use Fluorocarbon Line? About 5 minutes, give or take, then I pick up a rod with some real line...
  20. That's a lot of typing, and you'd have a point, except that most modern LP bass reels have identical or very similar spool diameters, so its a moot point, kind of like making a big deal about the difference between mass and weight (unless you own a space ship)...
  21. Nope, just fish, reading won't help.
  22. I've caught LMB on just about every lure I use for pickerel...
  23. Striped bass? never heard of 'em...
  24. vbsf.net tidalfish.com There are a bunch of places from shore and boat. Historically the striped bass fishing in that area is great, but last fall/winter was almost non-existant. If you are military, you can access some good spots on the bases as well.
