  1. Fire tiger (or your favorite loud color) lipless.
  2. Old people think everything is too expensive. "In my day"...
  3. 4 points on a 400 acre lake? Hit them all, with emphasis on seasonal strategies. Be aware that a particular spot may be better than another on any given day based on something tangible like wind, cloud cover, runoffs, etc, as well as just because the fish feel like it. If its a local lake that you fish often, you'll start to figure things out. On strange water, I like to move around until I find some active fish. I like long sloping points early and late when you can target cruising fish coming up shallow chasing baitfish. Another good thing to do is to check the shallower areas during the early season for evidence of nests, chances are those fish will stage near by during the season. Finally, a 2 or 3 oz bank sinker on a flipping stick or the like makes for a good way to check depth and bottom composition, you can even pseudo drop shot with it if you want to fish at the same time, but I find that just distracts me from the task at hand..
  4. No one can answer that except you and the fish. What makes you think your current equipment is inadequate? "Tis a poor craftman that blames his tools". Now go out there and contribute to the prize money, I mean, make me proud...
  5. Oh yes. I still fish the Matrix II, and have no plans to change. Some of these new reels remind me of the "You can't pick up the hammer, can you?" commercial.
  6. I keep going back and forth between being impressed and saddened...
  7. I use a uni with a couple of half hitches. I really like the palomar, but I've never broken off 65 braid, and don't want to loose a long tag end every time I retie.
  8. No, those were made by Silstar, as were many of the BPS, Cabelas and DSG house models. Turn the reel upside down, the Korean ones will say "Korea" right on the frame, the Chinese ones have a sticker on them. All the current Pure Fishing reels are essentially the same, fan boys not withstanding.
  9. x2. I use a round bend unless i feel i need a wider gap, on a thick bait like a beaver or Ika. I'm not a huge fan of EWG hooks, but sometimes its what is required, even when fishing a pond from shore...
  10. x2. The Korean made ones are internally identical to my other pinnacles. I'm looking for a 6.3 wide if anyone has one.
  11. According to what you just wrote, one is a subset of the other, ergo you are making my point. I fish from shore and boats from 3 acre ponds to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and everything in between. I know it may not seem like it at times, but fishing is fishing.
  12. Done that and much more. Fallen trees are 101, cardboard box to slide down bluff, layers with taped cuffs, drier sheets, skin so soft, and shower checks for the ticks, cobwebs you leave alone, little league bat for the geese, but none of these things have anything to do with fishing. It's like saying boat fishing is different because your old POS Mercury won't start...
  13. If size 9 and size 13 sneakers are the same price, why buy the smaller one?...
  14. A resounding no. Other than getting thorns in your ass there is nothing different from fishing from a boat or fishing from shore. There is already too much arbitrary compartamentation in LMB fishing. I'm surprised fishing from shore isn't a "technique" yet.
  15. Nothing a little 24 gauge copper wire won't solve. I hate loosing them, so I fish them with light hooks and 15 lb Big Game, I get 99% of them back.
  16. Best times for me are post spawn to late fall, but I always have at least one with me.
  17. Menhaden, also known as bunker. You know them better as Omega3 pills, or fishmeal...
  18. The original chatterbait is one of those annoying baits that clearly has several issues, but flat out catches fish. I dislike bladed jigs a s a whole, but there is no way around the fact that they are a useful tool. I have some Reno, sky ones they made before being served legal papers that I really like. I find there are several different presentations that work well. For me prespawn with a large trailer is killer. Like any other lure type, if it works for you, it works for you, no matter what others think.
  19. Swimbaits, Traps, wakebaits, square bills, large spook type lures, jigging spoons, (I ain't casting no small umbrella). That being said, I fish 12 and 15 most of the time.
  20. 8.7 on the silliness scale.
  21. Black buzzbait.
  22. 6'9" Medium, Extra Fast, 12 lb Big Game and a 6.3 reel. Everything from 1/16 T-rig to 5/16 jigs of all sorts. I catch a lot of fish with this setup. If I'm pitching into heavier cover, I'll step up to a 7' MH and 14-17 lb test, but I'm sure I'd get most out with the lighter outfit.
  23. Tropicana & Turd.
  24. 2 lightly buttered plain bagels, Enteman's PopEms, large black cofee, turkey and swiss on a hero (that's a hogie for ya'll), a little mayo, salt and pepper, Utz salt and vinegar potatoe chips, can of Coke, large orange Gatorade, large Deer Park water. That's for Salt water tournaments. Winning makes me hungry. LMB is a very reduced version of the same.
  25. A trap? That's 2 3700s full of JDM lipless cranks, with hooks all tangled up. Flowers, chocolate (the good stuff) and jewelry for sure. Tickets to something she likes, and knows you don't is the icing on the cake. "You don't need to get me anything" is chick speak for "If you really loved me" Don't do it...
