  1. Not LMB so much, but that's how I do it when I want a quick and yummy fish meal. You can do it in the oven, cooktop or a grill, and you can vary the seasonings depending on the fish and your mood, the sky is the limit, and clean up is a breeze.
  2. I was hooked (pun intended) at an early age, and for a long time it was always about catching fish period, but as most addicts I find that I don't really enjoy it as much as I just have to do it these days.
  3. If its a freshwater popper, I'd just use screw eyes for the hooks and tie. epoxy them in place if you'd like. A dremel with the appropriate wheel will make short work of cupping the mouth. I was just down in the Florida Keys, and they have a flea market where a couple of vendors sell all sorts of hardware odds and ends, and they had bins and bins of dremel attachments of all kinds, along with all those things you needed last week. Of course you could through wire it, but I think that's overkill (until a musky hits it)...
  4. They should just make it in 14 and 17 lb, and rebrand it as Berkley Super Ultra Bass Perfect QuadPolymer Supreme, and charge LMB guys $15 for 300yds. Win/win.... Just got back from Florida, caught a bunch of tarpon, one almost 100 lbs with 20 BG and a 30 year old IM6 flipping stick
  5. You laugh, but I bet if/when they come out with a 12:1 reel people will buy it. If fast is good, faster is better right? I'm so glad there was only books, magazines, and a couple of radio and TV shows and no InterWeb® when I got started, I'd own 12 rooms of tackle instead of 4...
  6. This ^. I try the "it" line every so often to make sure I'm not missing anything, and always go back to BG and XL.
  7. I like a faster higher mod graphite for swimjigs than spinnerbaits. The power and line depend on how I'm fishing each. This is for NE and Mid Atlantic smallish lakes and Potomac.
  8. Yeah, its the name guys in the south use for a hi-lo or dropper loop rig, essentially a beefed up dropshot with 2 hooks about a foot apart each on a 2 to 4 inch tag. Used mostly with bait for smaller fish and to catch live bait, but I've caught just about everything on it. Its the go to for scup (porgies), and black sea bass.
  9. Yup, we're doing a week in the Keys in Jan, Costa Rica and Panama in Feb, and probably the Amazon in March, life is too short to own an auger...
  10. Salt water rods get washed down every week or so, fresh water rods have to lick themselves like cats if they want to be clean.
  11. Boom! Mine aren't normal though, they like to cover themselves in all sorts of Magic Marker@, nail polish, and lead tape and act a fool in 4 to 12 ft of water.
  12. I don't believe there is such a thing as technique
  13. If you shorten the arm and put on a smallish blade, it will do what you are asking, it takes constant adjustment of speed and rod angle, and I haven't found it catches any better than other retrieves. YMMV.
  14. Strength? Fishing. Skill? Fishing. were I ever to cast an umbrella, I'm sure I'd ace it.
  15. Always been, always will be. Why ya'll surprised.
  16. I make my own. Rapala, flicker thing, and a flat LC (forget the name of it) work great. I actually want them to rise ever so slightly. I use lead tape on the wooden ones, and put a little water in the plastic ones.
  17. Ya'll catch some nice smallies. I think I need to make a New Year's resolution to chase them more this year.
  18. You apparently CAN have your cake, and eat it too, as long as you pay more for it... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_7VEWTbe5lU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  19. Baby 1 minus, about 8 1/2 lbs. Funny part is everything else I've caught there has been like 10-12"
  20. I was always under the impression that ponds were small lakes, and vise versa, silly me, twarted by semantics! d**n you Webster!
  21. Hey, you guys with the magazines, where do I get some whale oil for my lamp?... 21st century, get with the program.
  22. A new high modulus ride, and a Caribean vacation. I'm pretty sure Santa raids my stash for ya'll's Xmas lists.
