  1. Green machine, or a ballyhoo with a blue/white Islander, I'm a sucker for the classics.
  2. Yup, I'm surprised he doesn't have a split ring sponsor, agent sleeping at the wheel.
  3. This one, because it catches more and bigger fish than all the others I've tried.
  4. I don't flip jigs too often, I'm usually t-rigging something. But I catch some nice ones with a bitsy flip and zoom trailer. I do wire the skirt on. And if it hangs fatally, oh well. I will say that if I was sponsored by Siebert, I'd be throwing those, they are awesome jigs.
  5. One dimensional charts? Maybe the World IS flat. Y'all fresh water guys are funny.
  6. 7 ft MH IM7 fast to med/fast 15 lb mono. Depending on weight and how I'm fishing it, I might go a tad up or down
  7. When you move on to the next bait, can you make it a haiku, that's too much reading... Or maybe a limerick Hickory, dickory dock, quick, pitch under it...
  8. Nice catching, but you might consider a softer rod or less HGH...
  9. I hate these hypotheticals, but oh well, if im bass fishing, a swim jig. If I'm trying to catch whatever will bite, an inline spinner.
  10. Yeah, you know what makes more $ for sporting goods retailers than most anything else? Socks, and of those, the basic 10 packs more so than the performance copper enhanced, ultra weave recovery enhancing premium single cards. The same reason why if given a choice Ugly Stiks stay, and NRXs go. It's not sexy.
  11. Ok, can we archive this response, it's perfect (or more accurately variations from specs are indiscernible by test equipment). With the caveat of "use whatever works for YOU". Most folks cast and fish with the same hand position with spinning, and shift from casting to palming with bait casting, making each respectively more efficient.
  12. The aroma of the Anacostia after a heavy rain and the wind is just right is enough for me to forego the surprisingly good fishing. I was stationed at the JB there and the Navy Yard, and I'd see guys puting catfish in their buckets, yuk!
  13. Most of the fresh water lakes and ponds in NYC have fish in them. Central Park, Prospect Park, Flusing Meadows, Kissena Park, Bailey Pond, and Silver Lake to name a few. Don't blame me if you get mugged or bitten by a rat though... ?
  14. Im up in NJ House/pet sitting for a week. Got out today to a local pond, got 7. Most on a spinnerbait. I'm gonna try to catch a couple tomorrow in NYC.
  15. If 2 Asian chicks wipe your face in an airport with a used Klennex, you've got no one to blame...
  16. keeping in mind that most braid over tests in strength, and has terrible abrasion resistance, the deciding factor is going to be reel capacity, and lure size/weight. Heavier line will limit casting distance somewhat (not as much as mono) and lighter line will be more prone to wind knots and wrapping around guides. I find for most things, this works well: 1000 8-15 lb 2500 10-20 lb 3000 10-30 lb 4000. 15-40 lb
  17. X2. For those having issues with hookups, up a size, and just reel tight. I like the Gammy WGF for wacky, but not so much for drop shot, but it will work.
  18. Get a few, fish them hard, see what works for you and what doesn't. Fine tune and adjust as you go. Carry a small pair of scissors, you can trim them (you can also melt them together, but that's usually more work than I'm willing to do in the field) to match the conditions and mood of the fish. I find I'm usually pitching creatures or hopping/dragging them on the bottom. Also figure out what type/size of hook and weight work for you, usually these are the more important factors. YMMV.
  19. Most of MD ponds and smaller lakes were made for mills and water wheels, live stock and irrigation before there were cameras and good record keeping. I have what I've found on some, but it isn't a lot. It doesn't take long to figure out the bottom if you fish a small puddle a bunch. It's a shame no one has thought of a sonar that scans to the side and plots....
  20. Single colorado fished right seems to hypnotize them, they can't seem to resist. Its what Im doing right now, but with this crazy warm weather, they might start moving around more. This IS February, right?
  21. Slow rolling ticking the bottom high 40s to 60s, covering water with long casts and stop and go, mid 50s to mid 70s, burning flats, and grass mid 60s to soup. I can catch them colder, but I usually do better with other baits. I love throwing spinnerbaits and am fanatic about getting them right. Much like crankbaits, there is a time and place for different sizes/blade combinations.
  22. One more vote for Big Game. If you really must go with copoly, AN40 isn't bad and comes in 14 lb test which would be my choice for all around.
  23. Systematically and efficiently covering water with equipment that suits the task until you find fish, and doing it the way it works for you will never go out of style. I certainly can't speak for Mr. Perry, but from his approach it's hard to believe that he wouldn't use all the tools and technology available to him, if he'd started fishing now. That's the lesson.
  24. I really like pitching with 20 lb mono. Sure there are times when braid is a better choice, but I find it's not nearly as often as most folks think.
