  1. http://www.cafepress.com/+river_otter_recipes_journal,1189236356 Or I have an Andean crispy fried guinea pig recipe that you can adapt...
  2. And only a speck on their parent companies' portfolio, but Jarden themselves were bought out (technically a merger) not too long ago, so I guess no company is too big to be purchased. Pure fishing's new parent company owns seemingly everything in consumer goods, as well as many other sectors.
  3. Of the American Hand Pouring Society of America, cast, flip, pitch, skip, and cast...
  4. A solution waiting for a problem. I don't have a medical degree, so it's just a lay opinion, but I think that guy has brain damage. Unless he is friends with the mods, in which case nose hooking is the only way to fish 'em.
  5. Glad it turned out well. Now what to do with the $ saved not having to buy a new rod? Maybe put it in a piggy bank for a new ride, I'm thinking red Grand Torino with racing stripe...
  6. And this chair, and these matches and this paddle game, and that's all...
  7. reading will either increase your knowledge or confuse the heck out of you, in either case it will not make you a better angler, only angling will make you a better angler.
  8. And probably knock the lava lamp over too...
  9. I'm pretty sure the nano technology particles would phase invert and cause the instant destruction of the universe. Now if you were cat fishing.....
  10. Oh yeah!!! But I think that was the 80s. I had a celebrity crush on Miss Elisabeth...
  11. A 6'9" MH fast will work for most things while being ideal for none. If I had to choose just one rod, that is where I'd be. 2 rods is easier, a 7' MH, and a 6'6" Med. 3 rods, add a 6'6" med spinning. 4 rods, fine tune the actions and add a dedicated frog/flipping rod,. 5 rods, add crankbait rod. 6 rods, etc, etc. Of course, this should be weighed to the lures you fish most, and preferences. When you get to 313 rods (don't ask me how I know), you reach enlightenment, and suddenly the fact that the the proper number of rods is at once zero and infinate, that you can grab pretty much any rod and go fishing.
  12. I have several small ponds around me, when fishing those, I can usually tell fairly quickly how good or bad the bite is going to be. Sometimes I'll stick it out to get my 5 when I know its going to be slow, and sometimes I hop around depending on my mood. You can learn a lot by doing either. When fishing unfamiliar ponds, depending on the time of year and conditions, I'll stick it out and really hunker down, trying different things, usually, I'll start covering water, ideally catch a fish or 2 or get a bump or see one or 2, and adjust and maybe slow down depending on that.
  13. Another rod you can get, The 70s paneling on the other hand....
  14. Dirty sanchez is somewhere between pink and brown, closer to the latter...
  15. Doesn't throw small baits well, but I use mine for spinnerbaits and cranks quite a bit, I can palm them all day long.
  16. Big Game 10 lb test is .012" (.305mm), but that's just what the label says. I have some really good micrometers from work I used to do in a previous life (not related to fishing), and it measures a tad more.
  17. Because you are a member of humanity, and what applies to everyone applies to you. There is no should in the equation. It will be covered in economics, sociology, ethics, statistics, psychology (as well as other areas not as obvious) in college. Stay in school (or learn HVAC)...
  18. No gloves, I break out the reels with plastic sideplates in the winter.
  19. Consider myself lucky, the truck looked like it had been run over by a tank, the roof collapsed 1/2 way down. Yeah, had Geico for the truck and Progressive for the boat, both were surprisingly good. Didn't help that I had to leave on deployment a couple of weeks later. Had "agreed upon value" coverage on the boat, which I included the electronics on.
  20. I use mono on everything except frogs and some cases in heavy cover, or when vertical jigging in sticky bottom. Mostly its Big Game on baitcasters, and XL on spinning. There are several quality monos out there, These are just what work for me, and what I'm used to. While flouro does have greater sensitivity, I find its just not that big a deal for me to put up with all its shortcomings. I only use it for leaders in some situations in salt water where clear water and truely line shy fish make it advantegeous.
  21. Totaled 6 offshore outfits, probably $6k worth or so, sounds bad right? well, they happened to be in the console rod holders in the boat, which was on the trailer, being towed by the pickup with me driving at the time when we rolled 6 times. All totaled, silver lining, injuries consisted of bump, bruises, cuts, and a mild concussion, and I was alone in the truck.
  22. Another vote for the 4 stuff.
  23. If I did that to my tackle I'd have to move to China. How old is sis?
  24. Old folks always think everything is too expensive. It's the mirror image of why young people think a year is a long time. That being said, tackle manufacturers spend a lot of time, and $ marketing their products, elastic and inelastic demand, purchase history analytics, and all that good stuff. They are not in the business of selling cheaper lures, they are in the business of making $.
  25. This ^. I'm always on the look out for full body fishnet and heels for my Fat Alberts...Wait, that didn't come out right...
