  1. I still have the 8 foot Heavy Ugly Stik boat rod that I used to commercial fish cod and blackfish for over 20 years.
  2. Fisher Price?
  3. I've got a bunch of different ones and they all work well for me. I mod them all anyway. Its almost that time.
  4. $30 for lateral vision? How much if I just keep looking straight ahead?...
  5. I hope you choke on one of the bean sprouts on your non GMO organic avocado salad, or get burned by one of the hot stones on spa day,...dude...
  6. That explains the whole "I'm gonna go into production without knowing how to spec the product" thing. How the #&($ did Waldorf make the top 50 places to live?
  7. I have a guy in Japan send me some JDM lures every so often, the literal translations on the packages always make me laugh.
  8. I throw bone most, natural translucent colors in clear water, and dark colors early and late, but frankly, I don't think it makes a difference most times. I like the Jr. best, but I will throw the full sized, and the puppy also.
  9. This ^. Just like chess.
  10. It really depends on what specific bodies of water you will be fishing, the time of year, and of course the cover and conditions. But here is my list which fit your criteria. Bandit 100 SK KVD 1.0 Bandit 200 Fat Free fry 5XD Fat Free shad
  11. LOL. My favorite inshore stick is an old flipping stick, and my favorite swimbait rod is an old inshore rod. Sure glad fish don't hang out on the InterWeb®...
  12. Funny, I don't remember you being down in Costa Rica with us....
  13. This^. I'll add why do you want something different ? A trailer affects the size/profile of a jig, as well as determining the fall rate and action. Determining what combination of these you (actually the fish) want or don't want is the question.
  14. I use the same reel ( with centrifugal brakes) with different gear ratios for everything, because how the reel fits my hand when I palm it is important to me. Rods, I'm all over the place. I don't think there is consistency up and down most lines. Action and balance are what I key on. I will "customize" a handle all sorts of ways, including replacing the whole thing at times if I like the rod otherwise. My advise is go with what works for you, and the only way to figure that out is to go fishing. [place my first Led Zep 4 LP here].
  15. what he said.
  16. Queso dip AND gun barrels?, I'm surprised ya'll haven't erected a monument yet....
  17. SK was until acquired a private company. It rode the wave of bass fishing popularity to become a prominent player. It's difficult if not impossible to get good numbers on private companies, but it seems to have been a $20-50 million, 50-100 employee company. Lew's parent company is a private equity firm, so $ they can get. Like someone else mentioned, I don't see the obvious play here, but it all ends the same with those guys, so leverage it out, and sell it to one of the big sector players I guess.
  18. I don't see a conflict here. States make laws governing the recreational harvesting of fish caught. Anglers can choose to keep any or all of that limit, or release every fish they catch. Everyone is going to have an opinion on these actions. What am I missing?
  19. It never ceases to amaze me why this seems so foreign to some. Its how we got our start in the surf. The old timers would only let you use one lure until you "got it" then move on to the next one. It reenforces the fact that they aren't different presentations or techniques, its just fishing. I think having too much information in combination with a lack of experience on the water is what leads most astray.
  20. I can't speak for longevity, but I used a Black Max (the black and red one) this spring for about two weeks, and it worked fine. I lubed the worm and spool bearings as it was sitting around a while, and it worked well for spinnerbaits, swimbaits and flukes. Would I buy one? no, did I love it? no. Did it keep me from catching fish? no.
  21. Over 35 years in the bike bis, certified mechanic, and over a decade competing on a bike, first let me say that properly lubing is more important than minor differences in the lubes themselves. There are a few caveats, as some additives can break down plastic parts, and certain lubes don't play well with others, but these are rare cases. That being said, I've tried everything made in the bike lube market, and while nearly all work well, found no advantage. I use Shimano drag grease for gears, Phil wood on the worm, and sewing machine oil on my bearings. So short answer, yeah bike lubes work fine, as do many other non fishing specific ones. Oh, and do yourself a a favor, if you have hydraulic brakes, put something (an old cut credit card works well) between the calipers when you remove the wheel(s). Unless you were planning on bringing it to one of our shops, in which cas squeeze the lever with the wheels off...
  22. I need a pattern too, I see them consistently along the garage walls, I've thrown 3700s, 3600s, and even a few 3500s at them without luck. I know that's what they're on, cause every time I open one it's full of them, so I know they are gorging on them...
  23. Fast=good, slow=bad, so faster=better. Just look at rods, not only have some become (or are labeled as) ridiculously fast, but manufacturers can't even bring themselves to label slower rods as such, the opposite of fast isn't moderate. I find a 6. Something works for all around, I don't really mind a 7, though I don't notice any advantage. I crank, and fish larger more resistant lures with a 4.7 and 5.3. I don't really have a use for anything faster. But as all things to each his own.
