  1. Oh goodie! Just what the world needs, more country music on a Walmart challenge video.... How about a van life vs tiny home video with some blue grass next?... Or better yet, the Plopper is the greatest lure ever with some Kenny G...
  2. A honey bun and some good black coffee makes everything alright.
  3. First, This ^. I fished from a 12' jon almost exclusively when we were in NY. Threw it on top of the Jeep Cherokee, without struggling or scratching the wagon. Got a trailer for it a few years ago, and don't use it nearly as much any more (sucks getting old). Anyway, Here's my $.02: Don't try to fish it like a bass boat. You want to either line up and drift with wind/current, anchor, or use the transom trolling motor and back troll (I used a long bamboo calcutta as a power pole, long before there was such a thing). Depending on where and conditions, all can be very effective. Will you wish you were in a bass boat in large water? yeah, but in smaller bodies of water, once you figure it out, it will sometimes be an advantage.
  4. Pinnacle MT10SR (4.7:1), or any of it's clones.
  5. Bearly nose hooked Haribo.
  6. The number that comes after twelve
  7. While not ideal, it would work fine for larger JBs. That is a good rod to "keep in the truck", It will work great with spinnerbaits, lipless, chatters, buzzbaits, and jigs, and will do in a pinch for most other things. smaller baits and cranking not so much.
  8. Once the egg nog wears off, he'll figure it out...
  9. Nope, I'm not doing this.... Merry New Year everyone!
  10. If you take 4 of those boogers out and aren't getting at least 9/64" longer casts, you need to spool your 9 carrier braid in a helium filled pressure chamber on the equinox, preferably near the equator (hey sounds like bass guys will buy anything)...
  11. State specific reels? Really? I'm pretty sure your NY (Let's go Rangers! Olvi sucks!) will work, mine did.
  12. If you are going to exclusively fish 5/8 jbs and 1 oz jbs, I'd go for 2 rods, I'm not saying it can't be done, but a rod is going to be a pretty big compromise one way or the other.
  13. Yes, but why would you want to? I'll start laughing now in anticipation of some version of "to make my reel lighter", now if you are trying to loose (pun intended) them, then carry on.
  14. Imagine how much better KVD would be if he used a decent reel...
  15. I've started using the uni more and more on treble baits, but I used the Palomar almost exclusively. What I found makes it easiest is to close your hand on the crankbait or jerk bait, then pass the loop over your hand. On larger/longer baits just cover the hooks as you loop it through.
  16. I hear this at least 20 times a year, and 2 minutes later another happy customer. The uni knot is one of the easiest to tie. I'll give you that every knot gets harder with age, at 20 I'd chuckle at old guys fumbling around, now at mid 50s, all the young gun snots annoy me.
  17. Learned something really similar on the long range SoCal boats a while back, no bobbin though. Works great for connecting braid to large mono. I don't like a long knot when casting it through the guides, and agree its over kill for fresh water, so I stick with the uni/uni or mod albright for that.
  18. I says it's only 1/4- 1/3 globally accepted, and it is (or should be) more accepted as you go north.
  19. I use salt water shark/trolling wire. #6 for #7 for smaller ones, #9 or #12 for larger Pike ones. I think that's .018" or so for the smaller ones, and like .029" for the larger ones. You can google Malin, they have the specs on their site.
  20. Those are useless! send them to me (and go buy all the other ones they have) and I will dispose of them properly...
  21. 400º F, (20 minutes on broil) butter, garlic, and your favorite herb, cover with some sliced onion and bell pepper to keep fillets from drying out. Oh wait, you meant....
  22. First, never ever listen to a guy from MD about anything fishing. To your question, there will be a use for a med and MH rod pretty much everywhere bass swim. Ask your guy if he needs help with size in MD.
  23. Still waiting for my lump of coal.
  24. Don't know about the split ring, but you know you can change out spinnerbait blades in like 30 seconds, so you can keep throwing the ones you are used to, For what its worth i like Stanley spinnerbaits, and haven't had issues with them.
