  1. The only potential issues with using heavier lb test line in a LP baitcaster is reduced managebility, shorter casts with lighter lures and reduced line capacity, and subsequent reduction in IPTs at the end of a long cast, not so much with 15, more more so as you go heavier, but assuming you match all that up, it shouldn't be problem.
  2. In the river? lakes and ponds are warmer, and I've been catching them shallow on JBs and square bills in PG, Charles and ST Mary's.
  3. I'll take a dry, but not too dry riesling please.
  4. Slow rolling mid sized spinnerbaits with braid, and most things with trebles.
  5. Some Cadillacs came off the assembly lines with Chevy valve covers and some other parts with bow ties instead of duck badges a while back, many were convinced the parts were inferior, but in this case we don't know which is a Seville, and which is a Nova,...(I'm convinced the Cimarron was a Yugo though.)...
  6. I buy rods and reels independently of each other and move them around from one to another. Once in a while I find a combination that I keep together, but that's the exception.
  7. No anguillas? One never knows how fish get around, true story, dad had another of his ideas in (I want to say) '73. We drove down to South America (Actually to Panama, and flew the rest of the way, darn Darien Gap). Did a lot of fresh water fishing all the way down, but that's not my point. Anyway, somewhere in the Mexican desert, I forget where, in the midsts of the mountains and cacti, there were these tiny creeks and puddles and I saw a couple of small, maybe 2" fish. It took a while, but I managed to get one with a makeshift net, and I kept him in a jar. Now the rest of this is hypothetical and heresay, but I may or may not have kept it alive, and traveled across several international borders with it, and it may or may not have turned out to be an endangered pup fish, and it may or may not have been released in or about an engineering marvel.
  8. Used to mate on bluefish head boats, some nights we'd clean hundreds, found a gold ring, and a bracelet on two different occasions. The ring was $, the bracelet not so much...
  9. We use them to live line for striped bass, cobia, and even tuna. A rag and a little sand makes handling them a whole lot easier.
  10. You just want to post more fake moon landing Hollywood CGIs...
  11. It's a trade show, so technically its not open to the public. Folks find a way to get in. Think about it though, would you want to go to the slaughter house cause you like hot dogs? We used to take some VIP customers to InterBike if they promised not to act a fool (most can't help it).
  12. And a senko is what? A Cohiba?
  13. Like this ^. I like the drag and dangle" with a husky jerk or rouge in really cold weather. Do mix in a couple of "wind shield wipers" here and there though..
  14. You do know that all braid starts out white and is dyed with chemicals, yes? and I've been coloring hard baits with sharpies for years, and the fish apparently like the taste...
  15. Its not about the color, its about breaking up a uniform continuous color. There is a reason tigers and zebras have stripes. I haven't found LMB to be line shy in the least, but other fish certainly are.
  16. Aaron martens and The Hack Attack, cause of the whole yin-yang thing, and KVD and Palaniuk, cause I'm convinced they are AI controlled angling bot machines.
  17. Spool tension yes, brakes, not likely, unless you are spinning that handle like a fidget spinner (remember those)...
  18. "Is this an ugly stik® which I see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible To feeling as to sight? or art thou but A rod of the mind, a false creation, Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain? I see thee yet, in form as palpable As this which now I cast."

  20. Don't know about now after the Global warming, but in the 80s and 90s 1st week of April was the norm, but every year is different, plus/minus 2 weeks wasn't unusual. Spent a lot of time in Superior, Toronto, White, Hunter, Mangaup, and a bunch of ponds up there, as well as some really good brookie streams. Go get 'um. Prospect Park, or Bailey pond can help with that PB. I'm in NYC a lot April-October, so I get my fix wherever I can up there.
  21. I would put the knobs that spin faster on the one that the handle spins faster Sorry, I couldn't resist. I don't know about that model, but I've never seen any 2 reels that were exactly the same. How much grease they packed in it, and how long its been sitting around, are just 2 of the things that can cause the difference. Of course there could be minor differences too, "specifications subject to change without notice" is a standard blurb in most warranty docs (of most things not just reels).
  22. It doesn't take long to understand bass behavior. On the other hand, figuring out how it influences fishing success (or the lack of it) and catch them without fail in the most efficient manner? , I'm thinking about 3 life times...
  23. 8-10 lb xl on spinning, 10-15 lb Big Game on bait casting.
