  1. Got 3 so far, it will get better and better over the next few days.
  2. They won't melt, they will bleed. Kalin's tend to bleed less than many others, but they'll bleed if left together for a long period, specially if they are of markedly different colors. Bleeding isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes I do it on purpose.
  3. Oh good, so it's not just me. Some days I go through almost a bag of JBs, 2 if they are Shadow Raps®...
  4. I find that getting it level and the ball towards the front of the receiver makes it easier. Make sure the latch is fully open before lowering the trailer, then jump up and down on the bumper a couple of times, or rock the truck a tad if it gets stubborn. That all assumes that everything matches (including height) and is in good working order. I find morning caffeine helps quite a bit too...
  5. You need to secure both ends without using a knot. A spool of some kind that you can wrap the line on without damaging it works well. I had a contraption made to test the tensile strength and elongation of tennis strings when I worked in that industry.
  6. I like the improvement. Run your nail through the braid a few times and try 3/12 (snug the braid up fairly tight before pulling against the mono). The mono in this case should be just a stop. The friction of the braid wraps is what holds the uni/uni. You should be at least 80% of the line strength. The mod albright is a bit stronger.
  7. LMAO. You (or auto correct) made my day. ps: How many turns are you using on the uni? 7.5 on 15 lb line doesn't sound right. Try 3/9 turns and see what happens.
  8. Ceramic bearings are noisier because they are harder and generally use a less viscous (or in some cases dry) lube out of the package. The noise isn't coming from rattling around as the OP's question (and some answers) imply.
  9. We used to make wooden striper lures quite a bit. What you propose will work fine. Just make sure you seal the wood and openings well. Not sure why you are having issues drilling the plugs though, as long as you have a long enough drill bit and a drill press, it should be automatic. You could also drill the blank and then turn it, but that's more work.
  10. The guy's got a lump pressing against his brain and is probably going to be dead soon, cut him some slack.
  11. Take my wife, please...
  12. depends on where and when, daily conditions and who the "someone" is, but I usually start with a smallish spinnerbait, square bill, and a weightless trick worm. The key is to do your homework, and set them up for success. I recently took a co worker and her two kids, 11 and 15 who "have been going a lot, but never catch anything". They all caught at least one on both hard and soft baits. I've been the Admiral's "guide" since like the late 80s, and it's a no fish-no pay deal, so I have a lot of practice working someone up through the baits.
  13. Patient: "Doctor, I miss fish when I fish the same bait with different rods" Doctor: "Don't fish the same bait with different rods" Seriously though, once you get to a point in fishing (or any other sport) where mechanics are automatic, any change, that isn't a deliberate attempt to address an issue is a bad thing.
  14. If you think about it, larger fish feeling like a lighter bite makes sense. A smaller fish will often bite the lure and even shift it around with a second repositioning bite before swallowing it. A larger fish will inhale the lure by suction, and what you feel may be the lure moving before it even contacts the inside of the mouth. Of course this depends on the relative size between the fish and the bait. As far as setting the hook on the tap, yup right away, but not in a herky-jerky "gotta catch a train" fluster. reel down evenly, one of 2 things will happen (sometimes a third, but seldom) The fish will think his meal is getting away, or the texposed hook point will find a stopping point. Either is fine, continue to load the rod, and set the hook. One last thing, the tap is more of a tick, what some folks believe to be the tap is more like a thud, and that is the fish spitting out the lure, and now you're too late, and the confusion ensues "do I wait or do I strike?"...
  15. SLX Combo for $125.99 TYD from ALF&O (hope I'm not breaking any rules) is hard to beat IMNSHO. (Monkey got me on that one) I would also consider getting separate rod/reel starting with a Fuego, Mettle or Black Max depending on your budget. Lots of good sticks for little money out there. Finally some of the "more basic" Lew's combos are pretty decent.
  16. Yes, they would "work against" gravity when on top, but would also "work with" gravity when on the bottom. (I'm so sorry Mr Cohen, forgive them, for they know knot)...
  17. I figured as much. I'm a sporting goods retailer, and the only way I might consider giving someone 30% off on anything is if I "botched" an order by putting in a badger or wolverine in the box instead of lures...
  18. No, I meant Pradco instead of Rapala. I like the T1, the only draw back (other than $$$) is you can't change the length of the upper arm and it's difficult to change out the front blade. My issues with the WE is that the wire is fragile, the head comes loose, the distance from tie to head is too long, and with the wired on skirts (before they changed them) were a pain to change. They catch fish, but then so do most other spinnerbaits when the bite is on, when you need to really get into the weeds, that's when it makes a difference. I will say that a modified 5/16 finesse WE is a killer bait at times for me. That being said, if a WE (or any other bait) is working, keep at it.
  19. I'm glad I can't find an Academy coupon worth 30%, cause that would end up costing me over 50% in community property, and joint assets...
  20. I have not seen any indication that LMB are line shy in the least.
  21. Yeah, and if you close it's mouth, now the fish is an inch from the end of the ruler, and It's Roland Martin's calculator, so why wouldn't it be whacky? SON!
  22. Looks like chemical reaction from toxins released from refinery explosions....
  23. Maybe it's just me, but I rank War Eagle low on my Spinnerbait roster, and that was before the Rapala take over. I'll take a Stanley, Booyah, SK, and many others over it. Humdinger and Mann's HP original getting it done right now.
