  1. True, but doesn't keep the tribe from spending wampum, I'll give you some beads for that GLX...
  2. Rods and reels aren't more or less accurate than one another. Each has it's own particular characteristics. Experienced anglers with years of accumulated muscle memory will of course find different or unfamiliar gear will cause the same motion and timing will cause different results.
  3. They do stupid stuff, are competent anglers at best, and aren't my cup of tea, but they have found a niche in the industry. I'm sure there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes. More power to them. In this world of Kardashians, and other like minded reality social media "stars" views Trump content, ethics, and civility, so why not. You don't like it? Change the channel, problem solved.
  4. What size head do you like for like mid 20-mid 30 ft of water and mod current?
  5. Knock, knock, Who's there? Can't use... Can't use what? Can't use a jig from shore. That's a good one! As far as weight, it will depend on the same things as if you were standing on fiberglass, so no way to answer if 3/8 "will work" or not. Shore fishing isn't any different than fishing from a boat.
  6. Yup, the one on top looks like it got hit.
  7. Unless one is fishing with too light a rod, or to heavy a hook, or both, a less energetic hook set is called for than with mono. I like a stout sweep set with most braid application and single hooks. With frogs and big creature baits a bit more.
  8. Yes, they are not smart nor dumb, that's just us assigning human characteristics to them, as we often do to animals, inanimate objects, and deities. There are however genetic differences that cause LMB (and other organisms) to be predisposed to be more or less aggressive, or more or less attracted to our presentations, no cognition, or anthropomorphism required.
  9. I just bought a 100 sized reel from someone on this site. It came spooled with 50 lb braid, no backing. I was casting the entire spool with a 1/2 oz frog, I could have casted it another few feet if I had it.
  10. I know the trend is toward longer rods, but that just makes them feel even more tip heavy. Unless there is a good reason for going longer, a 7' rod is going to be more sensitive, lighter, and better balanced. A lighter, smaller reel will also make a stick feel tip heavier as well, particularly if you hold it while palming the nose of it with plastics and jigs.
  11. Thought: I like it, but much like TCM, I think the Essentials should be kept to a deserving minimum. I mean after Casablanca, To kill a Mockingbird, and a street car named desire What else is there? STRADIC!!!... I mean STELLA!!!
  12. 4 power Dobyns are essentially Medium Powered. 4 Power Endurance is slightly heavier than a MH.
  13. That counts. Some local NY tackle shops used to sell "snapper handlines" (snappers are baby bluefish) basically just a length of mono wound on a 9"x2" rectangular notched plastic holder, with a bobber, spilt shot, and hook attached. The fancy kids got a cane pole to go with it. In the late summer to fall you could catch as many as you wanted, plus sometimes some other things mixed in. Great memories.
  14. Not sure why, cause those are two completely different sticks. For what you are describing, of those two, the Powell. If you go Dobyns, go up to one of their 5 or even 6 power sticks,
  15. Tie a uni, only an inch or two of tag each time. But even if you are loosing a bit more with another knot, it would take a lot of retying to make a difference, unless you are frogging with a 100 sized reel, blue 50 lb braid (that comes off on your hands), and a little piece of black tape on the arbor knot. WHO DOES THAT?!
  16. Assuming I would play in a game allowing suffixes or unpunctuated contractions, I wouldn't play one worth only 2 points, I'd rather pass and get some better letters. Sorry, just nerded out, carry on....
  17. A black bead head nymph with some smelly jelly on it bellow a bobber.
  18. Tacky, if you ask me....
  19. Mono, monofilament, Big Game... Three names for the line I use. NO issues.
  20. Another vote for Columbia PFG.
  21. No set number, sometimes its one, sometimes its too many.
