  1. I would rather watch paint dry than fish a senko, but I'd rather catch bass than watch paint dry, so....
  2. Put the SLX reel on the 703, and one a bit larger if you have one on the SLX rod. Those 2 rods complement well, they are not similar. The 703 is a medium rod, though its labeled MH, and the SLX is a true MH, maybe a tad stiffer, and considerably faster than the 703 to boot. It will frog ok in all but the heaviest cover, and will do alright with lures in the 1/4-3/4 range.
  3. I know someone chuckleiconed® the cut down a longer MH rod post above, but that is actually the best way to go short of building a custom stick. There is no reason why a blank needs to be built or modified keeping the original length. Of course, one would have to have a good idea as to what the finished product should fish like, a seemingly foreign concept in the "InterWeb® help me find a rod" culture we find ourselves in. A lot of custom surf and Jetty sticks were and are cut down a little or a lot from either or both ends. LMAO...
  4. Loomis E6X reminds me of a BMW 3 Series. Sure you can get something else for the same money that's better, or the same performance for less, but It's not a Beamer. The 6 Series convertible is nice though....
  5. I'm thinking 9 ball, or maybe straight pool...
  6. So maybe we should fill the moat with bears?
  7. That arm mid way on the right looks interesting, as does the area dow(n) by the dam..
  8. JBs and crankbaits 10-12 lb mono, sometimes 8 and 15, but not often, poppers 12 lb mono, everything else 14-17 mono, except frogs which get heavy braid. Sometimes around pads and other cover I'll run buzzbaits on braid, but not often. What line should one use for sub surface lures?...
  9. My Daiwa Rick Clunn cranking stick just shed a tear...
  10. I use the same rods I throw big spinnerbaits with. Mostly with 15 lb mono, sometimes with 40 lb braid.
  11. Congrats on the PB...
  12. I like them for the bass, I like them here and there, I like them everywhere... Catt in the hat....
  13. Mod please close thread...
  14. This ^. Fishing reels, as with most sporting goods these days are far superior than what the task requires.
  15. The one knocker Jr is one of my fav walking baits, but to be fair, not sure it catches any better than the regular Jr.
  16. It is a straight forward repair. The one thing to look out for is damaging the blank when removing the old finish and threads. A decent rod builder can make a repair, that one would be hard pressed to pick out from the other guides. I usually do my own, but Hellen Keller could tell the difference.
  17. I don't like tiny lipless lures, but the 1/4 oz Cotton Cordell, Sugar Shad and Diamond Shad (ok, ok and the RES too...) work well for me when I want a smaller lipless.
  18. In a Plano box, making sure at least one hook point in each goes through the eye tie of another...
  19. One handed with the other on the crank, I guess technically two handed.
  20. LOL. I have a SIPR token and a lap top but I don't feel like sifting through a bunch of phone call transcripts. ?
  21. Because they fly overhead all day. If they only did it rarely, it would have a negative effect.
  22. "Shark inspired design features", AND NJ inspired voice over features.... LOL.
  23. In upstate NY, the bass think that's bath water. When it gets the consistency of a good margarita, then it's early winter. This year is so late too, but when it turns, it turns hard up there.
  24. med spinning with 10 lb braid (with a leader cause I hate trebles hanging up on braid). I can cast lures that size with some of my lighter BCs, but it's so much better with this set up. Night of the living cast....
