  1. His question is: what happens to IPT with the 70 size spool compared to the larger size?" I'm good where I am.
  2. Yes, the effective diameter as filled will determine the IPT when the spool is full, but a narrow spool will have a much lower IPT as the amount of line out increases, and it's not linear, so the more of the spool capacity you cast the larger the difference.
  3. Yup, and more so with larger diameter lines.
  4. Respectfully disagree. The dimensions of the spool all directly or indirectly affect both the rated IPT, as well as the rate of change of IPT at a given distance, and per length of line change due to the diameter and capacity.
  5. The Tour Grade swim jig in BG color with a GP trailer and dipped tail (grub, paddle or creature) is as fool proof as it comes.
  6. I would try to read it and commit it to memory the night before and concentrate on listening to Manuel...
  7. 10-15 lb BG with a palomar or a uni will straighten out trebles (or bring in some wood) with a steady pull 99% of the time.
  8. As long as one of the engines doesn't blow up...
  9. I disagree. They have the right to produce whatever type of content they want and reap the benefits or consequences. As a parent it is your job to change the channel on matter that you deem inappropriate for your children regardless of the medium. I will agree that the sheer weight of what youth is exposed to is a problem. Parent on parent.
  10. Nope. Unacceptable. I refuse to get skunked. I can usually count on one hand the times I get skunked in a season.
  11. While smaller JBs are usually a good idea, it pays to try larger ones in ponds, specially if shiners of shad are present. Any of popular 100-120 sized ones or some old school ones like the Long A will work. I've yet to fish anywhere where a #10 HJ won't get bit, the shadow rap has been good as well.
  12. Yup, skin hooked "stinger" hook, like this, (those are 12" shad on big doll hair jigs for striped bass trolling). I do it cause snakeheads (and pickerel) just grab the rear half most of the time. It gave the chatter bait a run for its money as best lure last spring. That will do it. Dip the tail and you won't be leaving any fish for anyone else.
  13. The overall winter yes, but particularly when the second half is worse, and the transition is short and not prolonged, I have seen this with bass and more so with other fish particularly in the salt. It makes sense, the water temps will rise over a shorter period of time. As a commercial fisherman, I see every season as the same but different, You have to fish the season but you also have to fish the day and the moment. That reminds me, Am I the only one that thinks Randy B. seems sad most of the time?
  14. 1. Pinch end of line between thumb and fore finger of dominant hand approximately 1 1/2" from end. 2. in a well lit well ventilated work space sight reel from back to front and insert the tag end though the level wind opening. 3. carefully grab the line with your other hand making sure not to release grip until securely held. 4. pull approximately 4 feet of line and continue to lace through rod guides making sure to start with guide closest to reel and insure not to miss any guides.
  15. It does if "half filled" means half the diameter of the filled spool, then it is exactly 1/2 the IPT of a full spool.
  16. I've always wondered why bass guys often do this backwards. Logically it should be lure, line, rod, reel.
  17. The effective diameter of the spool is smaller hence the IPT will be lower. I filly 6.3s size 200s about 3/4 sometimes. I'm surprised Shimano hasn't copyrighted VRR....
  18. Shhhh! I told my Stradics and Saharas otherwise.
  19. Does he own a white van and a raincoat?
  20. Similar but bigger. Siebert brush (Thanks for the custom color!) with a skinny dipper rigged "Chesapeake Bay" style.
  21. I keep colors as simple as I can, so I use GP purple flake. I don't normally buy seedless pumpkin or watermelon. I have some motor oil looking baits, just cause, and just for Ss&Gs I take a few of each color and marinate them in the same ziplock for a while so in my mind I'm fishing something no one else is. The fish, I'm sure couldn't care less.
  22. You can fish any color trailer on any color jig.
  23. We sell donated tackle and boating items at local fishing flea markets and shows to raise money for a charity. I teach the "Maryland Crab" method of tying the uni for donations, just as quick or quicker than the clinch, I would post it, but I suck at videos and as you know uploading them also...
