  1. Yeah, should be fine. I like to bend up the hook point ever so slightly on my jigs, and thin out and spread out the weed guard a bit. If you are fishing heavy cover, don't overdo it. I fish jigs with a MH and BG 15, I like to reel down the slack, point the rod and come back hard on a tight line, don't miss many.
  2. They use taper for action and action for power, length is girth I think (at least for the Ducketts)...
  3. I ran across this while looking for a BC with a flipping switch...
  4. Frog eats bird, dog eats eggs, girl slaps frog, frog nutmegs baby...
  5. Everyone who reads his post with 1/2 a brain.
  6. I hear that happens if Daiwa finds out you put crabs on a jig...
  7. DSG has a multi faceted, regional marketing approach. Some stores have little to no fishing and other outdoors items, while others have either a large section or a dedicated "lodge". Don't forget they also own Field & Stream, which in essence acts as a stand alone lodge. And finally, in some markets it just doesn't make sense to dedicate valuable floor space to low volume low margin items, no matter the category. I don't wish sporting goods retailing on my worst enemy. My local DSG has an ok fishing section, not awful, not great.
  8. That's one tiny umbrella.
  9. When you have wind or current pushing on the lline, even though its not tight, the "belly" will transmit more than a straight line with slack in it. Both for mono and braid.
  10. So when you find big fish you catch big fish? Who knew.... I'm still not casting an umbrella.
  11. Wait, baits come and go out of fashion? Hadn't noticed...
  12. It should be ok, but I'd go with a Aird-X and a Black Max, if you shop around, you should be able to get it between $80 and 90. even at MSRP, hard to beat.
  13. I would not describe the Furies as "very sensitive". I like them for moving baits, and top water much more than for plastics and such.
  14. Drop shot finesse for sure. everything else, there isn't one better than the other, it's a time and place thing. The trick worm is one of my staples, very versatile.
  15. And doesn't like choir boys...
  16. Put me down for $2 on braid slipping, and another $2 on whatever team Brady is QBing for next year.
  17. Ok, ps: I don't know what a trophy snatcher is.
  18. Everything I opine on is from experience. I have a couple of gin clear spots near me where I catch bass with very heavy mono leaders (cause there are things with teeth there). The irony of my PB is that I caught it with my wife's spinning (old 2000 stradic) outfit and 6 lb xl out of a puddle. No picture, no scale, so I guess it didn't happen, but it (I should say she) measured 27.5"x19.5" and it dwarfed anything else I've caught by far including 2 over 10 and one over 11.
  19. This is spot on. I will add that in addition to the obvious like rod position and retrieve speed, things like line choice and trailers will have a big impact on how deep they run. I wrap some thick copper wire or solder on the hook shank to fine tune what I want them to do.
  20. Way to go. Eastern MD and DE ponds tend to turn on earlier for some reason. Caught a spawned out pickerel thereabouts yesterday, that is usually the sign to start bass fishing in earnest. I've eaked out a handful of LMB this month, but I'm sure it's about to get good.
  21. Should be ok as long as it is sized accordingly. I use split rings on the #9 and bigger ones. The smaller ones I tie a uni and leave it with a small loop. This is for the Finnish ones, the Emerald Isle and Eastern European ones don't know, cause i don't use.
  22. 10 acre pond at 56 degrees, just walk the perimeter with polarized glasses and you will see whee they bed. Males start clearing spots fairly early.
  23. My knots don't slip.
