  1. I'm sure one of the newer "egg" wake baits with a hackled rear treble will mimic or even out perform that lure.
  2. It's a matter of having some give somewhere in addition to personal preference. I fish a MH Mod fast graphite rod (not a high modulus one) with 15-20 lb mono. On the rare case where I use braid, then I want a composite or glass rod. Some older IM6 or 7 rods have the perfect actions, and can be had for a song at fishing flea markets. The same rod used for big spinnerbaits usually works well.
  3. My browser must be defaulted to it, cause that's all I get...
  4. Lemmings. Longer rods are "in".
  5. Never a pioneer, but I have been the schoolmaster, plumber, and pizza delivery guy...
  6. I do when trying to add a little weight. I splitshot without the splitshot with a larger one sometimes. We fish swivels on rigs in the salt quite a bit, so not reeling to the swivel is second nature. Keeps weightless trick worms from spinning up line too. I'm out the door right now, and I'm fishing braid to short leader with a swivel with small cranks to make them pseudo suspend. I'm picturing one of those nerdy kids at a Rubik's cube competition....
  7. You know the "don't use crankbaits from shore thread"? Let's just say that's not what I'm finding on the water right now in a big way.
  8. In addition to the inline spinners and small plastics named above, I'll add a small JB like the HJ #8 and a small crankbait, like the Daiwa peanut, the SK KVD 1.0 or something similar. If you can find one, and don't mind the price per lb, The Combat Crank mini catches everything everywhere. Also, find the smallest SB you can find (other than the Pond Magic) and take the blades off and replace them with a #2 copper colorado blade. If that doesn't work book some Tee time.
  9. You would think. I bend an offset round bend hook to have a shorter shank and bigger bend. Essentially to what you are describing above.
  10. Tab of GP, 1/2 tab each orange and black.1/4 tab each of red, watermelon black flake, and brown. 4 strands each chart, purple, and tan (like a rubberband). tied with maroon #6/0 thread or wired with 24g copper wire on a black brush or bullet head with an 8 strand middle stiffness brown weedguard reaching 4mm past hook point, And yes, a [insert any color here] Keitech will work on it.
  11. jbrew 2024!
  12. I was tuning some baits earlier and caught a bass on a purple and yellow skirted spinnerbait with red/orange blades (with black accents) in really clear (8-10 ft vis) water. Fish don't own color C-lectors, Any color can work in any water vis.
  13. Those scales are accurate,
  14. 3 ft of vis isn't murky in my book.
  15. Royale with cheese and a side of chips (salt and vinegar).
  16. My favorite FC for weightless t-rigs is 10 lb BG.
  17. I do all my custom painting with sharpies and nail polish...
  18. How you rig any bait is going to depend on where you are fishing and the conditions. There are no one answer to the answers you seek. Wacky rigging a large night crawler with a small hook, using a tiny split shot if required is as close to guaranteed fish as you can get, puts Senko to shame. On a bobber, any where from a foot to 3 or so, again depending on where and when. Please go fishing.
  19. Don't tell the cyclists, cause we make a lot of $ selling and installing after market ceramic or "super" bearings to them, but it's all hype. A properly lubed ABEC3 bearing will perform as well if not better than any other bearing. I really like "Ultimate rotation capacity" and the whole "capable of carrying extra heavy lures". A barely (pun intended) lubed basic bearing with the seals removed will be the fastest, indeed most likely too fast. Oil viscosity discussion to follow.
  20. "Hi. I'm BassWhole! and it was 120 days since I last bought tackle"...
  21. So we are trying to get to 517 questions, are we?....
  22. If you pause it twice and you get hung and loose it twice no pausing, if you pause it twice, and you catch 2 fish, more pausing, TTA.
  23. Again, I most likely wouldn't be using one of those in murky water (maybe as a trailer on something), and I would dye some or all of it, but as is of those colors, the Ice White.
