  1. "We are going to practice here, and then go to where the big ones live"....
  2. I use surgical tubing or McDonald's straws, but I usually do hackle instead.
  3. LOL. There is a discussion about this on one of the salt water sites, and I'm actually (trying anyway) defending bass guys.
  4. Not sure I understand your question, but besides weight and being sensitive (more of the first, less of the second) what makes glass a good choice for larger treble lures, and certain other moving baits is the recoil speed. When bent, a glass rod doesn't want to straighten as quickly as a graphite one. Makes for a better fish fighting rod, at the expense of a working a lure and detecting bites rod. As far as action, a rod of any action can be designed from either material.
  5. You are not. 4 will hold if tied properly. The knot was used out west for tuna fishing with 4 wraps long before becoming crazy...
  6. 1/4 oz with an Oklahoma blade and a #5 feathered treble. I spun one up and went out yesterday, and it worked well, went back over the area with a mini chatter and a 4" t-rigged Senko (cause sometimes you gotta watch paint dry) and mopped up a bunch.
  7. It's a Shuriken, and it's Japanese...
  8. I was also going to say bird, but if you look closely, there is a mark on the opposite side that matches the path of the cut. Looks like it passed or was put through something symmetrical with sharp edges. Or Aliens...
  9. Or body paint legs and feet with Flex Seal spray, and get the same lawyer as the Gorilla Glue woman...
  10. Fluoro with improved not strength...
  11. My calories rig is a large pizza with sausage, mushrooms, and peppers with a classic Coke.
  12. I'd be willing to bet there is one or more on Fleabay right now, or one will become available.
  13. Yoyo for sure. But as I'm thinking about it, I realize that it is (with the exception of a straight retrieve) all the same retrieve ranging from raising it a few inches off the bottom and letting it settle back down, to reeling and sweeping as hard as possible and then pausing on a semi tight line and everything in between. It's a matter of where and when with time of year, water temperature, structure and cover dictating the action. I see it similar to JBs, find the rhythm and cadence for the day.
  14. It sounds like it will be ok, and was getting over being left out too long. When I have to work on getting a hook out, I'll either do it with the fish in the water, or place it back in every so often. Often deep or badly hooked fish are killed by the action of taking the hook out ripping tissue. As mentioned the gills and guts are bad, as is the tongue for some reason. Something I see ying rarely is a fish hooked through the top of the mouth that is dead or dying as soon as landed, I'm assuming it hit the brain or something else vital up there, but don't know for sure. Another thing that works well sometimes if a larger fish gets 2 trebles in the gill is to cut the hooks and pull it out the gill.
  15. 7 up, 7 down on the modified Albright.
  16. Frogs and square bills and HM 53 Gazillion modulus in the same thread.... BINGO!
  17. The jig bite is usually either on or off, and this applies to t-rigged creatures and craws. Right now it's off here. I throw it some every time out to make sure, cause when it's good, it's GOOD.
  18. Good= one the fish will bite Ideal= Does not exist
  19. Yeah, that plus missed a guide on the rod or the levelwind on the reel. I've also clipped the main line instead of the tag after a knot. It happens.
  20. Is there a way to make this the automatic answer to "what is the "best", "perfect", "ideal", "favorite"" threads?
  21. My wife worked LP for a Sporting goods company, and one of her duties was to manage RTVs and make the ones not required to be sent back to the manufacturer unreturnable for just this reason.
