  1. A JB, a lizard, a large popper, and as much as it pains me to say, a WP in a particular size, in a particular color, fished a particular way. Came across this by accident last year, and it's held up well.
  2. I don't know about the jackhammer, but I replace the duo locks with coast locks on all my chatterbaits, no matter the maker. I also close down the clip with needlenose, since they aren't coming off once attached. Never had a problem.
  3. I'm 1961, and they keep trying to lump me in with all ya'll old farts, now where are my reading glasses I gotta get this line through the guides before lunch time.... Completely agree about talking to folks with the experience.
  4. Super Man Helps Every One...
  5. I'm pretty sure that the majority of LMB spending the majority of their time over deep water or "offshore" isn't breaking news.
  6. I don't disagree, but it's a complicated issue. The time to mold the business model was last century.
  7. No, but it will work, just not as well as something more suited. I like the finesse wide gap, but anything similar will work. I do use offset worm hooks sometimes, and I am T-rigging, and I just want to see if wacky might be better, but at that point, I'm probably painting something, and stare at it.
  8. When there is money on the line or they are grabbing it and spitting it out in one motion.
  9. Could be, but in that case, you come back and hit it later, then you will know for sure. I'm on them now like that, I can only catch one or 2, but I come back to them and get a couple more more times than not, and it keeps happening, so I know there are bunched up there, just finicky.
  10. How does one translate this from fishing to LMB. A "pattern" (were I to accept such a thing exists) is a way to try to figure out where they are when you don't know. FLW found this out when they tried to put together a striped bass tournament. The same teams kept taking all the money in each area. Being LMB guys, they couldn't figure out why.
  11. Yeah, but that is just part of it, you can't roto mold via Zoom.
  12. Hate to go to a cliche, but Covid and the related effects were a perfect storm for the entire chain of most products, and it's going to take time to go through the backlog. We do bikes (Treks not Harleys) and it's been nearly impossible to get product, both bikes, and parts or accessories with any consistency. The one bright side (sorry consumers) is that everything going out the door is above MSRP. Make hay while the sun shines.
  13. Every time I see the term Junk Fishing, it seems to mean something different. I think the first time I saw it it referred to fishing different baits to different targets and not doing one thing. I call this fishing. Don't get me wrong, if I can pick up one rod and never put it down, then that is plan A, the fish usually have a different idea, and they are the majority share holders, so...
  14. So the best "pattern" is to find where the fish are at? There may be hope for bass guys yet. Whether a spot (we call them drops) holds one, some, several, or a boatload of fish, You ain't gonna catch any until you find them. I don't think knowing where there are fish is an unfair advantage.
  15. While I'm not a huge fan of circle hooks, as long as the fish gets the bait and the hook in it's mouth, it will work. Not the hybrid hooks like discussed above, but a true circle non-offset hook with a straight eye, snelled and line passed through the eye. Where they don't work well is with very small fish, where the wire gauge prevents it from setting properly. The bigger the fish and the stronger, faster runoff, the better they work. The really hard part is to just reel and add pressure quickly but smoothly when the fish doesn't, specially for bass guys, most can't seem to help themselves and have to heave back.
  16. No, some LMBs have different coloration for several reasons. Hard to tell from the picture whether that is odd color or something external caused it. I see some bass with large black random spots. Caught one once that was almost completely black with a white belly. This time of year I see a lot of silvery bass, much like a shad, with hardly any green at all.
  17. Overall length, as well as handle length ratio to overall length plays a part. For tip down topwaters, and JBs, shorter rod/shorter handle. For jigs, spinnerbaits, cranks and such longer on both. Also when working in close shorter rod, when bombing and covering water, longer rod. Many ariables.
  18. Careful with the paint on older reels though.
  19. I read that they named Randy B. president, and they are also banning LiveScope, and everyone will have to fish out of a dug out canoe that they build themselves, and use only one cane pole...
  20. And from Jersey (I'm not allowed to make negative Philly references).
  21. Annoys us science nerds, but understandable. Folks mistake added motion at the tip per unit motion at the hand(s) with more leverage. Since most LMB anglers outweigh most LMBs by a factor of 100:1 (specially in the south ) or so, the added power required isn't a factor. Tuna sticks are short for a reason.
  22. Dumping plastic is illegal in the US.
