Yes, reel down most of the slack out and sweep, firm, but not exaggerated, like you see in the videos. Wacky rigging has an exposed hook, and it's usually not at a great distance, so no need to be heavy handed. Once you do, keep even tension on the fish with a good bend on the rod as you work it to you. You don't want the rod flailing around, and straightening out. I see this from a lot of newbs, and it's what causes most fish to get off.
