Sounds like ya'll need a flatfish PED random testing program. I switched to a snelled big Gammi octopus, and bent the offset straight a while back, and hardly loose any. You want a soft long rod with heavy line, you can almost fish the drag locked down, and Gulp, it's fluke crack, oh, and a net and not letting the fish break the surface is a good idea.
