  1. I find that when the bite is tough really fast or really slow is the way to go. Of course every tough bite is different. Try different things until you get some feed back, sometimes it is a fish showing itself, turning away, or slapping at the bait. Yeah, but gossamer color coordinated tackle and spinning the handle with the off hand why videoing with the other looks so cool...
  2. I'm gonna throw the SSR this evening and see how small a bass I can get to hit it. I'm thinking 1 1/2- 2lbs or so, and if a big one hits it I won't get mad...
  3. We had a feral cat problem, the crazy lady next door feeds them, and the county will only catch them, fix them and then release them where they caught them. When I told my wife what would work, she said no. Well 6 months of cat pee aroma, and I was authorized "by any means necessary" problem solved pneumatically at 1200 fps...
  4. Can't be certain without seeing it, But I'm thinking that if you switch jigs with one with a lighter gauge wire, and don't allow slack at any time, most of your issues will resolve. I set my drag to 11 with single hook lures and mono, but I fish softer rods than most and BG, so no issues with a locked drag and lost fish.
  5. That, plus youthful enthusiasm combined with the fact that a given amount of time is a larger portion of your existence when you are young, so a year is 1/10 of all you know when you are 10, and sixth that when you are 60. I remember when I was a kid, a year was an eternity, now I blink and it's 2020, I mean 2021...
  6. I'm blinking SOS...
  7. I have a bunch of resin and foam ones floating around, but I don't use them much. I also drill a hole in presta valve covers (If you actually use it on your bicycle wheel, we know you don't really ride, kinda like loop knot and fishing) and use those.

  9. Very true for most endeavors. You can learn about things by reading about it or watching videos, but you will gain competence by doing.
  10. Weather is to fishing like ketchup is to fries...
  11. I like the 4" better, but there certainly is a time and place for the 3". The YUM and BPS ones get it done for me.
  12. Yes, adding heavier hooks will affect the buoyancy, but there may more than that going on unless they were really heavy wire ones, a size 5 light wire might do the trick. In warm weather, and around wood, I like my cranks to want to come up quickly and back up some, unlike in the cold.
  13. Those first generation Extremes are very good rods.
  14. It's not the jerks at the other end...
  15. So a rooster ring for your worm?...
  16. So something with a 6.9 gear ratio?...
