  1. Do the Garmin or a Hummingbird, Lowrance are nice while they work, not so much after that, and it will...
  2. I caught 7 bass today, so no winter time idle chatter yet, maybe next month...
  3. Those are probably mosquito fish. In a normal winter, they wouldn't be active near shore this time of year.
  4. Most of my best catches have come when I'm wearing pants...
  5. I'm N95% sure I'm gonna miss it...
  6. It really depends on where one is fishing, and how big the cats are. For eating sized ones in still water with not much hangup, heavier bass tackle will do. For real brutes in current and nasty hangups, you almost can't go heavy enough, and of course there is everything in between. I like the lighter Ugly Tiger Sticks for good budget sticks for cats and salt inshore stuff, but there are a bunch of different things out there. The Shimano Bait runners are really nice reels, but a bit of $$. I usually fish 30 lb mono on conventional gear or heavy braid on spinning, and a heavy mono leader, mostly 50 lb on either. We are starting to get some real blues up these parts, and they are eating everything in sight.
  7. 15 BG in my case, but 12 YZ Hybrid will work.
  8. Totally doable, one can do 90% of bass fishing with 2 BCs and a spinning stick.
  9. LMAO! I'm thinking of trying this on the Arthur Kill..
  10. They catch fish for sure, but I don't see any added value from it to a finesse jig with a finesse trailer, and you'll go through a bunch compared to the jig.
  11. Acquired by Pure Fishing. Not a fan of most of their lures.
  12. No, and I've really tried to find a difference.
  13. I find myself at the extremes. I'm either fishing really slow or really fast, the middle ground is seldom the ticket for me.
  14. We (everyone) affect others directly and indirectly for better or worse by just being, nothing to do with fishing. Merry Christmas.
  15. For a 100 sized walker, I prefer a spongy MH as well, but 6'9" or so. A med won't work the lure quite as well, buti f they are coming undone most likely operator error. What line?
  16. Can't be worse than JAWS 3D...
  17. The choice of lure is key here. A cold water CB and lipless is different than their summer counterparts. The fish will stage and then slide up or down depending on location and conditions. Look on breaks, and more often than not, they will be huddled in proximity. Mid 40s water with a rising temp has me using these 2 (or at least trying them) from the colder water lures like JBs, smalll swimbaits, and the one I don't speak of.
  18. back pack rod holder PSA: Good way to turn a 1 piece rod into a 2 piece rod.
  19. GP and watermelon...
  20. With the caveat that InterWeb boards' humor is best done a la Larry the cable guy v Dennis Miller, I'll play; Trying to prove if the blade will function (I would say vibrate, but that would be more like a transformation...) if it's concave..., see? crickets...
  21. I stopped throwing jigs in the winter, sure, if I insist, I may catch a few, but other things have proven better for me.
  22. I like a front moving in in the PM or so, rain too.
