  1. My advice is to keep an eye on the weather, and be ready to go on short notice. Every season sets up differently, and if you make hard plans early, it's easy to miss the best action. There is usually a 2-3 week window that's really good, but again, that could be compressed or extended depending on the weather.
  2. I don't fish Senkos or it's clones much, but when I do I use the Yum Dinger, BPS Stick-O, or the Mopolo infused one. They all catch fish, I never "add performance" to any of them.
  3. On par? I dunno. Think of them as golf clubs, there is a time an place for each. I'm sure all of those will catch fish.
  4. LOL. I'm gonna go reread the "Are you influenced by pros" and the "reviews" threads..... Or maybe I shouldn't....
  5. LOL. Yeah, in MD, but I had to wait out the skim ice to get started. Funny, some spots are solid, and others are slushy. Next couple of weeks look doable. I just have to commit to bass, cause the pickerel are much more willing, and this time a year there is no cross over.
  6. Breath slowly and deeply into a paper bag, and when you calm down search what I wrote on the subject of reviews a few days ago, and maybe revisit any statistics courses you may have taken while you are at it.
  7. In my next life I want to come back as a Swedish women's cross country skiing coach...
  8. Nice. I always get a kick when the TX, Louisiana, and other south guys chime in on winter and cold water fishing. I got 2 shots this week, and actually caught a couple, and next week looks promising.
  9. Nothing recent, but it does happen. It could be a manufacturing thing, but more likely it's been on the shelf too long or improperly stored.
  10. In tidal waters, falling water can be just as productive as rising water, I'd argue more so. It's specific to the locale and conditions. A lot of folks struggle in tidal waters, I find that they are very predictable, but you do have to put your time in to figure it out.
  11. The Bees say "The difficult we do right away, the impossible may take a little longer"
  12. "Eleven, most blokes fish with line with 8 strands, then if they want to go higher, where can they go? nowhere. This line goes to 11"
  13. That's frog fishing, and without seeing it, there is not much I can recommend. I've had 100% hookup days, and days when I might as well have fished with rubber hooks. I like to be above 80%, or at least over 75% before I start to worry. What I found that works for me is to key on how they are biting the frog and adjust as required. Sure there are days when most bites result in the thing being gone in their mouth, and the needle nose making an appearance, but more often than not it's not quite that. A smaller frog, or shortening (to zero sometimes) the legs sometimes helps too.
  14. Fargo, Green Bay, St Paul, Grand Rapids, is there a difference?....
  15. Neither is JC Penny....
  16. I was about to disagree, then I noticed that you are from a state that thinks filling a Pyrex dish with whatever, pouring a can of soup on it and baking it to death is a thing...
  17. We fish with crab, clam, bunker, and other messy baits, so the middle finger knuckle is the only way to go if you don't want a sloppy mess.
  18. Pork rinds are gone, folks will say because of the rising price, lack of good material, etc. The truth is they are gone because of lack of sales. Sure there are a couple of folks bringing them back, but that is niche at best. Johnson Silver Minnow is still available, as are some clones. I don't use them for bass as much as for other things, like redfish and other inshore fish.
  19. Nail clippers, or Shakira....
  20. "Change the plus to minus, and the minus to plus, it, could, work!"...
  21. Based on what you are describing, I would just slow roll a baby bull shad or something similar, and pretend it has flat sides and a lip if that's a requirement for some reason.
  22. LOL, back in the late 80s, early 90s, one slow winter day at the bike shop, we were acting a fool, and kept upping each other, and goofing on the then "new technology", eventually we came up with STS, Shimano Think Shift. I think the Covid nano chips makes that and the equivalent STR, Shimano Think Reel finally a reality.... No, but you can taste mushrooms, Wait!.... you CAN taste colors....
  23. I wouldn't buy or use half the technology in the bicycles I sell, but no one is putting a gun to any consumer's head. Stuff folks don't buy doesn't get made or offered for long. I blame (or is it thank) the buyers...
