  1. That looks like a herring? Yall must have some crazy looking herring swimming around yall's waters...
  2. LMAO. Let's see your luggage...
  3. Unless you are fishing a MH high mod rod with braid (and still cooperating with the fish) that is hard to do. Usually that happens if the hook gets hung up on angle and twists, or when removing it with pliers.
  4. A fish can only bend out a hook (or break a line) if you cooperate with it on your end, you know, 2 jerks...
  5. Another thing you might try is taking everything out and weighing the boat, and comparing that to what it should weigh. If you have water intrusion, that can be a problem, I have seen it before.
  6. Putt, putt, putt, mental note, fish TnRiver46's drops closest to the ramp, check...
  7. Yeah, I was thinking a 115hp on a tin 17 might be a bit much, what about Shaq fishing from the front?...
  8. How do I put this delicately?...
  9. Another thing I thought I invented. I use 10 lb mono and a palomar though.
  10. I've tried every blade combination I can muster, and I haven't seen a french blade make an improvement in action or catching over other blades in either position on a spinnerbait, can't honestly say why. On inlines they are killer in pretty much any size, I make a mini double blade in line that catches everything. I really like figuring out the why in baits, and this one has me stumped.
  11. Gibson Martinis for lunch...
  12. Yes, retest for sure, they can have up to a 30% error rate. Also check the side effect of the meds you are taking, some side effects affect taste and smell. Most folks who "loose their taste", are actually loosing their sense of smell. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
  13. Yemen is a mess in so many ways.
  14. https://www.hhlure.com/collections/saltwater-lures/products/sparkle-beetle Finish that bad boy out. Color #8 is the one you want.
  15. I'm not sure what you consider a conflict, but it's way more than 9, and that's a good thing. The whole "rough men willing to do harm on our behalf" thing. Heck, 9 was just a Tuesday in Africa. reels with his left...
  16. Would need to know when, where, and how to make any answer remotely valid, but in general, I'd get any 3/8 or 1/2 oz willow/colorado, change the skirt to match forage, down size the blades one size, make one gold and the other one silver, and add a do nothing smallish trailer. I hardly fish any spinnerbait stock, so most of the time I'm fishing something different or unique..
  17. I'd do the Calcutta, but you can't go wrong either way. I use the same Calcuttas for fresh water and inshore salt all the time.
  18. I want to like them, and they will catch fish, but I find them too light, and I think there are better options in the tiny spinnerbait realm, but what do I know, I don't like War Eagles (Other than their little guys)... The full sized Booyahs, I'm a fan.
  19. I had one, liked it a lot. I want to say I got it in '77 or '78, but I may be off a year or 2.
  20. Can I throw a Boy Howdy on my dedicated Devil's Horse combo? What about a Bang-O-lure?
  21. I closed the ears down (forward) a touch, making one slightly more cupped than the other, then I "polish" the eye rivet thing so that it is very free, then finally bent the tab where it enters the lip up a tad. I like working it with a high tip keeping the line out of the water. When it gets into a rhythm, it walks and gurgles almost on it's own.
  22. I wouldn't consider the conditions on your picture blue bird, in my mind it's not a cloud in the sky, and glass calm water. Nice one though.
  23. Another reason not to use a loop knot, and as someone mentioned, a palomar or another snug knot would probably solve that 100% of the time, but a gap in the hook eye open enough to let 10 lb mono through is not acceptable in my book.
  24. Yes, the cliche windy and overcast in low vis water scenario is a thing for sure, but one can catch fish in bluebird skies with no wind and clear water with a spinnerbait. The same rule as for other lures under these conditions apply, smaller, more subtle, forage colors. Something like the Stanley small fry, or War Eagle finesse with a single small blade have worked well for me in the past. In the pre spawn, slow rolling a large spinnerbait ticking the bottom is a great way to get a big one.
