  1. Won't that spook them?....
  2. Macbeth, like a tragedy....
  3. I have stopped using soft baits to bed fish....
  4. Can you put your dull jigs, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits in a box for me, I'll be around in the fall to grab them...
  5. That will do it, my dad had a cake route, and he was out of the house by 4 am, sometimes on weekends, and Holidays, I'd ride along with him as a kid. As far as sleep, it's changed as I got older, but I would never go to bed until I felt tired, and somehow, I'd usually wake up a few minutes before the alarm went off, or the time I wanted to get up, I also somehow was able to know the time, usually within 10 minutes if I got up in the middle of the night without looking at a clock. When I first met my wife (who takes for ever to go to sleep, and is a really light sleeper) she couldn't believe how I literally fell asleep almost as my head hit the pillow. She says I snore terribly, I've never heard it.....
  6. I hope you get entangled with some 13 carrier braid....
  7. Putting the spook in spooky action at a distance...
  8. First generation silent plastic Zara Spook with the nose tie and 2 hook split ring hook hangers.
  9. That's the one. Used to "borrow" them from the wife, now she gives them to me as Xmas gifts, along with nail clippers...
  10. "Life is the crap that happens between fishing trips"
  11. Tie some baits on 'em and fish them...
  12. Keep a paint job for long...
  13. No, they were made in Philadelphia.... LET'S GO RANGERS!
  14. I have no favorite brands. I am a marketers worst nightmare. I do have a soft spot for Rapala, because it was the first lure I owned (silver/blue back original #9), and I got it by climbing up a tree and dangling 15 feet over the water. But I will fish with whatever Works for me no matter who makes it. Oh, and while I like the OG slim and the tiny, they need to look at the QA on the bill attachment and the finish smear. If these are tank tested, they need to take the swim up to bar out of that pool, If I want to tune cranks instead of fish, I'd buy some Normans....
  15. A month before the pandemic...
  16. I can sharpen any bass sized hook with a nail file in less than a minute, usually much less. I like conical points, but sharp is sharp, and I use some others as well. Excerpt from an impromptu mini seminar at a recent fishing flea market when the subject came up, me: "I don't care if your hook is chemically sharpened, laser sharpened, sharpened with river rocks by the Keebler elves, or ceremoniously sharpened by virgin geishas atop Mount Fuji, just make sure they are sharp. Check them when new, no matter the manufacturer or price, and check them throughout their use, and sharpen them as necessary. Throwing out hooks because they get dull is like throwing out your car because the tires are bald, don't do that."
  17. I fish a couple of gin clear lakes, there I'm trying to get as close to the forage color as possible. When I fish places with stained to dirty water, I just do dark, natural, and light, actual color not that important. Sometimes even in clear water something bright and loud is the ticket. It's easy enough to change the skirt and trailer in no time, no need to carry a gazillion baits.
  18. I can't watch donkey videos since Tijuana....
  19. Frogs, popping and otherwise braid regardless of cover, poppers, like a Pop-R, 12-16 lb mono, and a completely different setup. I seldom throw a frog in open water, but there are times when it's the right thing to do, to me it's giving up hookup ratio for size, there is a fine line, (pun intended).
  20. I have a bunch of old ones that I like, and a few of the newer ones are also very good. If I could only have one it would one that lives in Sherwood Forrest, or maybe one that is a note I could hit on my clarinet...
  21. Eliminating vowels isn't a bad strategy, but I find that eliminating certain consonants is a better one. Started with SPORT this morning, and had it to 50/50 after the second word, picked the wrong one so ended with 4. It is rare that I don't get it in 3 or 4. Been tweeking the algorithm for a while. Impressive knife work there.
  22. Yes, but the industry and most anglers use tandem to mean a colorado in front of a willow, luckily, fish don't speak english,
  23. I had a similar thing happen, the lesson I took was I need a tiny spinnerbait with a single #2 colorado blade. I call it my JDM Beetle Spin. Has saved many a day.
  24. If it's gone because you squeezed it, you can bend it back out.
  25. Tell me about it, I feel like Holden Caufield in Texas, or Lenny Bruce...
