  1. The first rule of in line LMB is you don't talk about in line LMB... Spinners are great multi species lures.
  2. They won't move far, they may also be harder to see in the reduced vis caused by heavy rain and might still be there, they sometimes do laps around the area, and you will see them circling back. They are already acting funky if they are on the beds, and not feeding as much, so the front effect won't be as pronounced as in other times.
  3. Patient: "Doctor, my guides make a cracking sound when I press them" Doctor: " Get out of my office!"
  4. Cut a 1/2" v notch on something, hold the line about a foot away and pull the lure tight against the notch, most times the fish will fall right off, or you might need to shake it a bit, we use olive barrels, cause they is going to market...
  5. You could do it, but it will be less than ideal. I fish a lighter (power not weight) rod than most, and I find 3/8 is where I switch from a Med to a MH, all rods are different of course, so you have to go with how the rod fishes, and not the label on the rod.
  6. Common misconception. Fill a pond with a bunch or 5 lb fish and just a couple of dinks, and see what size you end up catching more often. Fewer larger fish are caught because there are fewer (a lot fewer) of them in most places.
  7. Like a dry martini, just wave the vermouth bottle over the jigger...
  8. I'm wearing a robe, and holding a gavel. How on earth can anyone see a "future use" for someone else without knowing where, and how they intend to, let alone actually end up fishing?
  9. Their braid is good, everything else I've tried from them ranges from meh to bad.
  10. I actually find the modified Albright (commonly referred to as the Alberto) easier to tie with braid to mono than the Albright, your fingers are already holding the line where it wants to go.
  11. No, baked it, hope he buttered the cookie sheet first though. #zombierecipe... Like macaroni, or fusilli?
  12. "Anyone know the reason for the $50 difference?" The cost of warranty replacement for rods with silly cross sections maybe...
  13. I have been known to ream and polish #1 clevises, did I mention I'm OCD...
  14. Leading willows, specially small ones, do tend to be lazy. I will defer to others with more experience building spinnerbaits on the specifics as to why, as I haven't found definite reasons for it, but what I've found is that a wider and or deeper cupped willow will spin better, the spacing on leading willows is more critical, and the angle that the spinnerbait runs also has a bearing (pun intended), also anything overlapping the blade, including the swivel split rings and the loop it is attached to can interfere with the spin, as willows spin closer to the shaft than other blades. Lastly the size of the clevis, and bearing bead seem more important than other blades. I am not a huge double willow guy, but I'm starting to warm up to them in more situations than just burning.
  15. A fish under say 10-12 lbs you can hand line it up with big enough line, another option is a bridge net, which is a ring net on a long line.
  16. After. Some builders do seal wood lures before painting and then clear coat though, but that's more common in the salt.
  17. I've never had it happen with bass, but I have done it twice, and seen it a couple of other times while live lining striped bass.
  18. That's not a thing. The best "pattern" to catch any particular sized bass (or other fish) is to get a lure in front of them.
  19. That sure sounds like a pike or pickerel. If it happens again, cut off a foot or two of the line where it broke, and take a good closeup picture of it and blow it up, Iphones are great for that, the teeth marks are unmistakable, most times the break will look like a diagonal clean cut and there will be scrapes above it. yeah, I'm OCD.. FIFY...
  20. Wow, imagine if ya'll could put in a full day...
  21. If you are breaking 8 lb copoly on a wacky hookset, It's one or more of the following, -Too much hookset -Bad knots -Too much rod -Bad line
