  1. Very good, reliable reel. On sale several times a year for 80 bucks, at that price it is an outstanding value.
  2. Happy you found something so fast. Congratulations.
  3. Sorry to hear that. Really do hope you find something, and fast. As stated above, good time to really enjoy the family!
  4. I am not sure about the "glorious" light part....the Redskins....while certainly looking to be an uprising team....have been about as bad and miserable as the cowboys have over the past several years. If RGIII can stay healthy, look out for them. He has "it", whatever that is. The 'skins players really rally behind him.
  5. Sadly, that has been true too many times. A good offensive line and a power running game are a quarterback's best friend. Unfortunately, the Cowboys have neither.
  6. I have had good success with the yo-zuri lines as others have mentioned. I also like the cabelas store brand flourocarbon. I believe it is made for cabelas by seaguar. up to 10 lb. line...cost 600 yards is 26.99 or less...12 & 15 lb line is 36.99 for 600 yards and 20 lb line is 40 bucks for the same 600 yards. It may be worth a look. I have been using it on some rods for the past couple years and really like it. Also, I agree as others have also mentioned...for moving lures it is safe to go up in line poundage. I fish spinnerbaits on 17 lb mono for the most part...or on #12 yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft which breaks at 19.5 lbs. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  7. you might also try a black jitterbug. I prefer the 5/8 ounce jointed version. I also replace the back hook with a VMC sureset hook. Lot's of fun catching fish on topwater....being at night only adds to the excitement.
  8. I agree about looking at the draft in 3-4 years to tell the whole story, and maybe Frederick will turn out to be beast. But, the cowboys have not garnered ANY benefit of the doubt with their draft performances since....well....since Jimmy left. I do like the pickup of Williams, and think Randle in the 5th round could be a good pickup as well. Didn't like the pick of a big, slow pass catching tight end in the 2nd round. Again, I truly hope against all hope that these players all make the team, and can become starters in the next 2-3 years. Dallas is going to be rebuilding very soon, if they are not already, with Ware, Witten, Romo, Ratliff, and most of their other "core" players now 30 years old, or older.
  9. I also use big game, mostly in heavier ratings such as 12, 15, and 20 lb. Never had a problem with any of them. I do treat with KVD line & lure.
  10. I think it was a great pick by the Giants...picking up Justin Pugh. I think he is going to be a mainstay somewhere on the Giants offensive line for the next 10 years.
  11. I understood your point regarding Floyd, and it is valid. My point was that, if both Floyd and Frederick play up to their potential...Floyd has pro bowl type athleticism and talent, Frederick is just another guy. We are in agreement regarding Jones and the boys. I hope Frederick proves me wrong and just becomes a beast. But 21 benches with 225lbs for an offensive lineman is PATHETIC. I did 27 reps back in 1982, as a high school senior. Granted, I am only 5'8", and it should be easier for someone my size vs being 6'4". But after 4 years in that program??? Either he is just weak, or he is not a hard worker. Neither of which bodes well for the Cowboys. At the end of the day, I guess it does not really matter in the scope of life, but I am a huge fan. I don't live and die by the cowboys, or the Buckeyes, but I am a FANatic!
  12. Wow, as I went back through this post, I am really NEGATIVE towards my cowboys. I do think they have earned the fact that fans can't trust them to better the team. Thanks to those who posted, and made positive comments. I think I just go fishing and try NOT to think about rounds 2 and 3 tonight!
  13. Name me a third rounder Dallas has taken in the last 5 years who has made the team....much less been a productive player? If it was Ozzie Newsome in Baltimore, I would say give him the benefit of the doubt...he has proven over time to be an outstanding evaulator of talent. Jerry has not only NOT earned the same benefit...he and his staff have proven over time to be one of the worst drafting teams in the league. One other point, how can guy, who is from a big-time offensive line factory like Wisconsin, go through 4-5 years of school, and still only Bench 225 lbs. 21 times? 21 times? There were wide receivers who did more than that.
  14. Star...will be a star. Reminds me of Haloti Ngata from the ravens. And yes, we could have, and should have taken him. All we can do is hope the Frederick kid proves us all wrong, and becomes a pro bowl player. But, NOTHING about him makes him an attractive pick, especially at pick 31 of round one. Had the cowboys picked him up in the third round...ok. But the kid does nothing extremely well, he is not fast to get to the second level, he is not agile to pull, he is not quick to help protect the middle rush, and he is NOT a MAULER... EVEN the kid himself said he was surprised to go in round one, thought he was a second rounder.
  15. I think Floyd has tons of potential...question with him is more "character" issues than football ability. At least maybe, with Rod Marinelli in his ear, Floyd had playmaking ability. Frederick is a big, slow, plodding, center who makes up for that by being weak at the point of attack??? The point is, and I think you agree, the cowboys have alot of holes, and they need to find younger players who can come in and play right away. Frederick will need 2-3 years...at least...to get strong enough to play and hold ground at point of attack, Floyd would have been in D line rotation from day 1, maybe a starter by midseason if he lives up to his potential. What is Fredericks potential??? His ceiling is VERY LOW. I agree about what's the rush. Did you see the look on Garrett's face and Ciskowski's reaction to the trade down? NOT HAPPY. That tells me that both the head coach, and scouting director, had a player they were very high on, and the owner/gm overruled them...again.
  16. Sam, I have been a fan since 1969. I am also very much a realist. It is PAINFULLY obvious that until Jerry kicks off, or hands off the reins to Stephen, that the cowboys are never again going to join the NFL's elite. Changing from the 3-4 defense to the 4-3 defense makes absolutely no sense, other than you hired a coach who HAD success with the scheme...10 years ago. Key point....we don't have the players to play the 4-3...we have been adding 3-4 type players for 7 years. Some will transition, others will not. The draft has long been a sore spot with not only me, but most true, educated cowboys fans. They have a mediocre team, and until things CHANGE, I can't see it improving. It is actually better to be awful, than mediocre. When you are awful, you at least draft early in every round. WAIT, did someone say trade down? Thanks for the kind words and positive message. I still root for them every Sunday, but they sure don't make it easy.
  17. it depends on your budget. Lots of folks here are very technique specific...they have not only a specific rod but also a specific reel for jigs, spinnerbaits, cranking, flipping, soft plastics....etc. If you are on a budget, and can only afford one reel...then the bass pro pro qualifier in the 6.4:1 gear ratio would be an excellent choice, as would the shimano citica 200G6 or 200E7. These reels can be used for any type of fishing, and have shown themselves to be an excellent value over time.
  18. For me, the curado E series ( as well as the citica E series) are the best reels on the market. I love the way the fit my hand when palming, the ease of setup and use, the consistency on the cast, and the smoothness on the retrieve. Many other really good reels on the market, but I prefer this shimano series. If you are anything but very happy, I will be surprised.
  19. I agree completely...
  20. Once again, the cowboys have managed to completely mangle any chance of improving their football team. They have selected a player most had ranked as a second round pick, many a third round talent...with their first round pick. They passsed on several players... to add the 13th pick in the third round...that would have immediately helped their team. the cowboys traded their 18th pick for the niners 31st pick, and gained pick 74. players passed on included Sharif Floyd, and Justin Pugh. Both of whom I believe will be starters...and good to very good players for ten years in the NFL. Did I mention that Travis Frederick...the player the cowboys picked....ran a 5.66 forty? That is unbelievably slow, and top that off with the fact that he showed poorly in all the drills and other measurables at the combine. WHY? Let it be known that both head coach Jason Garrett and scouting director Tom Ciskowski both reacted VERY negatively in the draft room to the announced trade down. OBVIOUSLY, neither the coach or head scout were on board with this pick. Even in the offseason, the Cowboys and their joke of a GM manage to ruin my day. Reminds me of watching them play on Sunday. I think I am gonna have to start watching soccer.
  21. You are lucky. Customer service when good....like our sponsors here...is almost taken for granted. However, when a problem arises and customer service is needed and then is poor....it can be very frustrating.
  22. I have sprint. no problems with the network or coverage, but if you must place a call to customer service....well, just go fishing. PM me if you are considering sprint and would like to hear my side of the story.
  23. just my take, but I think most any 7 foot medium power, fast action spinning would work. Even though they are a fast action, spinning rods seem to have a "softer" action...at least in my opinion. I throw shad raps on a 7 foot, med/fast cabelas XML rod and have no issues. That said, If i was going to look at a spinning rod for cranking and WANTED a cranking specific rod, I would look at the shimano crucial line.
