  1. Glenn did a video that is also very informative. You can find it in the video section here on BassResource.
  2. I have had a pair of Asolo 520's for over 7 years now. They are not camo, nor are they goretex. I treat mine with obenaufs, and they have been in the water several times and are waterproof...completely. Best boots/shoes I have ever owned, period. Comfortable, great sole support, great ankle support, and they are built too last.
  3. I agree with this.
  4. I agree about also eliminating any other possible causes. Your line choice is just that, your choice. Check your guides and double check your knots. one last thing, how often do you check your line for abrasion?
  5. whenever I have a fish strike at and miss or come off on a treble hook lure(crankbait, topwater lure), I always throw a senko back in the area of the miss, or sometimes a crawfish imitator...several times I have caught a fish doing this....only problem is I don't know for certain it was the same fish
  6. That is fantastic. Way to go Castaway Rods!
  7. Thanks for all the answers. I have two brakes on, the rest off. I have an occasional backlash, but nothing like I get when throwing the buzzbait. I have some practicing to do. Thanks again everyone.
  8. I think that is my problem. Thanks for the advice.
  9. anybody else seem to have an inordinate amount of "professional overruns" when casting buzzbaits? I fish mostly cavitron but also a few others, and I can cast the thing 15-20 times with no problems, and BAM, out of nowhere, I cast one and it seems like the thing turns sideways in the air, catches any wind available, and there you have it...backlash. Any tricks, tips, or secrets out there to help avoid this??? I throw them on a 7'2' MH cumara rod with 200E7 Curado spooled with 15lb big game mono. I use this rod for several other lures as well and rarely ever have a backlash. Thanks for any help.
  10. I fish from the bank, so I try several different lures at each location. I will usually throw a topwater...sammy or spook usually, then I will throw a spinnerbait/swim jig for a horizontal moving presentation, then usually will try a swim bait type lure which is usually a 4.5 inch live magic shad or strike king swimmin caffiene shad on a 1/4 jighead, finally I will fish a senko. Lastly, I will drag a jig with craw type trailer around...in areas I can get away with it. In the really rocky areas that already have eaten several of my jigs, I go to a texas rigged craw of some type.
  11. Very cool. What a terrific way to remember your Dad. Good for you, and good for you son too.
  12. on a nasty "professional" overrun...AKA a terrible backlash. happened a few summers ago, I spent 2-3 minutes working that bad boy out, and when I did, AHAH! I had a fish on the line. Moral of the story...slow down!
  13. Lot's of success with strike king pure poison...bought several at walmart for a buck each. lately, a local fellow makes some that are sold at our local fishing store, and I have been using them. they have a "holographic" front on the blade. he has one in green pumpkin and the holographic front flashes green pumpkin, a hint of yellow, and a hint of orange as it vibrates. well made, and so far no problems.
  14. I use both, however, I have found that I had to get a couple of left handed baitcasters to properly "walk the dog" ...I apparently am not coordinated enough to work the rod with my left hand and reel with my right while "walking the dog"...I can, though, and it has been witnessed by others...walk and chew gum at the same time :Idontknow:
  15. Lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer a little over two years ago. I miss him even more than I ever imagined, and I knew I would miss him terribly. Like most of the posters, I will be doing something, anything, and I will just think of him. I tend to believe that is him watching over me and my family....as that is what he has always done. As SirSnookAlot said, focus on the good things, good times, and laughter.
  16. Those look Killer! always like reading the reasons WHY you make your lures/baits the way you do. Just makes sense.
  17. Sam, I too hope he has his health...but, chances are really good his first wife has alot of his money!
  18. Thanks. I am looking for something that will keep the rain showers off, without leaving me with that "clammy" sweaty feeling on the inside. I understand when it is 80 degrees, I am going to sweat, but when it is 70 or even 60 degrees, my current rain gear still leaves me with that feeling.
  19. Tried this line at Roadwarriors suggestion a few years ago. Have never looked back. I fish it on a 2500 size shimano stradic reel and have never, never had issues with it. It is very cost friendly, strong...breaks at 11.9 lbs...and casts very well. You can often find it on sale at fish 307, the long fin, and even that auction site has some great deals on this line. Last year I bought 8,000 yards for less than 30 bucks. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  20. Thanks BrettD. Do you find yourself sweating on the inside of the Frog Toggs?
  21. Now that's funny!
  22. My question is to all you Frog Toggs users...which one??? looking on their website, they have several different variations of rainsuits????
  23. #1 black jointed jitterbug #2 black spinnerbait #3 senko...watermelon purple gander mountain brand.
  24. Which Frog toggs do you guys wear? Looking on their website, they have many different kinds? Thanks to all for the input.
  25. Looking for something that is lightweight...I tend to run hot and sweat easily. I am looking for something that is lightweight, absolutely waterproof, and completely breathable...if that exists? Please share what works for you. I have my eye on this product, but would like to know what works for you guys. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Clothing/Mens-Casual-Clothing/Mens-Rainwear/Mens-Rainwear-Jackets-Parkas|/pc/104797080/c/104746680/sc/104522580/i/104091480/Cabelas-GORE-TEX-PacLite-Rainy-River-Parka-Regular/1318375.uts?WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104329080%3Bcat104522580%3Bcat104091480 As always, Thanks for your input
