  1. Thanks for sharing your story. I am glad that you and your friend are ok. I am sending you a pm as well.
  2. I have been making a concerted effort to get bit with buzzbaits the last few trips out. So far....nothing. I have tried Cavitron, black skirt with red blade and shad colored skirts with gold blade, clacker style with black skirt/blade, white skirt and blade boogerman? I think. I have also tried some other 3/8 buzzbaits with different blade/skirt combinations. I fish from the bank and generally cast along the bank to my left and right, several times, then fan cast the area in front of me. I have tried a few different color combos and still nothing. I have not had rea good success lately anywhere, but i have caught a few fish on different lures in same areas I had just fished the buzzbait. What tips do you guys have that might increase my chances of getting bit? Thanks in advance.
  3. I agree with what John said. Many times on here a post is made asking a seemingly redundant question. But, If you read the previous question, after 3-4 replies, the original topic is completely distorted or simply "veers off target" so to speak. I have learned to try to be as exact with the wording of my questions as possible, so I can get back the information I am looking for. Even then, I still get ....you should by the ...., enuff said posts.
  4. Goose, thanks for taking the time to provide this information for us. I think your report should put to bed the "disposable" reel claims. The time and dedication you have put into this project is impressive.
  5. Excuse me...did you say it makes you look fat? Did you ask your wife/girlfriend, "honey, do these rain pants make my butt look big"? Just kidding with you. Proper fit is important. I have used items from both companies, and do not really have a preference. I will second the sierra trading post website for outstanding deals. Campmor website also often has markdowns with steep discounts at the end of each season.
  6. In all fairness, I have only used the PQ and the older, gold colored carbonlite. I liked both of them very much, and have no complaints whatsoever regarding either reel. I fish shimano citica, curado 200 E series reels because they feel the most comfortable in my hand. I don't thnk you could go wrong with the PQ. very nice reels, lots of gear ratios to choose from, and priced right. But then again, those Chronarchs are really nice too
  7. Saw a little old lady left turn in front of a biker in Tucson several years ago. He was trying to beat the light. Lost his life because of it. He tried to lay it down and she drove right over him. To this day the most sickening experience of my life. I have noticed that folks are riding earlier and later both in the day//night and in the seasons. Here in Ohio it is not uncommon to see some diehard bikers riding into december if we have a few warm days. I have also noticed that some...certainly not a generalization....some bikers don't seem to have the respect for what might happen. I have had a biker pass between me and a semi-truck when the truck was passing me and we were side by side, and it is somewhat common to be tailgated by a biker. To be fair, it seems like most of that dangerous riding comes from the younger generation on the crotch rocket type bikes. I give bikers a wide path if I am following them, I sure don't want to drive over someone if they have an accident.
  8. Holy crap. that jaguar is one bad kitty.
  9. I use #6 on my spinning reels. No problems whatsoever. I think #19 is overkill. #6 breaks at 11.9 lbs. which is pretty stout for spinning gear. I like the way it casts, handles just fine, and is a good value.
  10. Well said...I wish you a fast recovery as well.
  11. I agree with your point, but it also makes my point. Look at Alabama....or LSU...two of the best, if not the two best teams of the past few years...they shut you down with their athletes...especially on the D-line, then wear you down with the running game...again behind some of the best O-lines in the country. Obviously, they have great athletes all over the field, but many teams have outstanding backs, receivers, QB's, but can not match many of the SEC teams on the lines.
  12. big Ohio State fan, have been since I was a kid...some 40 years ago. I have no problem admitting that currently the SEC is the dominant conference. I don't buy the speed thing though. I think the real difference between Bama, LSU, et al vs. the other schools is the athletes on the O-line and D-line. Ohio state competed with LSU in 07 for about a quarter and a half, then slowly but surely LSU took control of the line of scrimmage and just choked the life out of the buckeyes the rest of the way. Notre Dame just got dominated on the lines this past year. People can talk about Eddie Lacy, AJ McCarron? , etc, but the O-line and D-Line were just dominant. I think if Urban Meyer can continue to recruit on the lines the next couple years, Ohio State might be able to climb back into that SEC type team with freakish athletes everywhere, both lines, skill positions, but I do not see it that way this year.
  13. Get them both. you won't regret it.
  14. Very nice looking rod rack. I am not sure 100 bucks is enough. I recently spent 40 bucks for one of those round rod racks and it is a flimsy POS. Regular retail for that is 60. I am going to have to cut a couple wood dowels to reinforce it so it won't spin and possibly damage my rods....and I don't have reels on them. What you made looks WAY better, and I am sure it is much more sturdy.
  15. I completely agree with the above. Ish's phat frogs are VERY easy to walk, at least for me, and they do not take on water.
  16. Great story. I have similar feelings about an old archery shop I used to visit with my father some 40 years ago. Thanks for sharing your memories.
  17. Robert, any chance I can get in on the "ground floor" of this unique opportunity??? Of course, you would need to loan me another million so I can loan him a million. For your trouble , I will split half of my royalties(FOREVER) with you and will pay you your million back upon receipt of the repayment of your original milion from OUR new business partner. I will ALSO add your name to the bassresource good sellers list!
  18. I have both and prefer the shimano. I don't think the Lew's does anything better, and the Shimano fits my hand like it is made for it. Have you handled both reels on the rod you will be using them on??? The feel of the reel in your hand may be the difference maker. Like others said, both make quality products and either choice will be a good one.
  19. I use them as well. I don't think it hurts the action of any of my lures, and it saves a lot of line from not having to constantly cut one lure off, re-tie, fish awhile, cut another lure off, re-tie, repeat.
  20. I have the 7'4" mojo glass rod and like it very much. I would not, however, use it for deep cranking. I throw small to midsize cranks with it...squarebills, strike king series 5 cranks, rapala dt10 and the like. Mostly cranks up to the 10-12 foot depth range. I think it is perfect for this application, but believe it be "underpowered" for deeper and larger cranks. My .02 cents worth....which, for the record is worth more like .03 cents, at least in my opinion
  21. I have never seen the lights of a UFO before. However,I saw bigfoot one time...and his hair was backlit by the moonlight. He was beautiful! He also was very aggressive...until I gave him my jack links beef jerky. He left...without probing me
  22. Send Mike at DVT a PM regarding price. It will depend on what modifications you want done.
  23. This. and very glad you weren't seriously injured, or worse.
  24. Send them to Mike at DVT. He will change to bushing to a bearing, and deep clean and properly lube the reel. It makes a HUGE difference, or at least it has on the ones I have sent him.
