  1. I went to a left hand reel and with rod in my right hand. I am able to walk topwater & frogs twitching with my right hand and reeling with my left. holding rod in my left hand and reeling right handed is my normal cast and retrieve but I can not "walk" that way.
  2. Guys...please listen to me. The powerbait general ...especially in green pumpkin...does NOT catch fish. It is a horrible plastic bait and I for one think the rest of you should toss them all away...and NEVER speak of this again!
  3. I just received a new rod on thursday this past week. Cabelas does a fine job ...thick cardboard tube outside, rod in plastic bag with tip protected with bubble wrap.
  4. I set two brakes on/two brakes off. Set spool tension knob according, and fish. Never any issues.
  5. I still throw a black 5/8 ounce jointed jitterbug at night. I would not recommend it for others. It just does not work anymore. ?
  6. Wholesalers are also experiencing partial orders, items being cancelled, whole orders being held up in customs for up to 28 days, etc.
  7. I always use a trailer as well. Part of the fun is experimenting with all the different trailers available such as: Zako, boot tailed zako, z-craw jr., rage craw, rage menace, rage baby menace, strike king rage swimmer, strike king kvd swimming caffeine shad...well, you get the idea! ?
  8. Same here. Plus Mike is always willing to offer help on this site.
  9. Academys H20 series are great and a great value. I especially like their lipless cranks. Strike king also makes a good product with several colors. My favorite is the rapala DT series...specifically the DT6 and DT10. Like others have suggested, I would have some variety. the depth you are fishing and water color should be deciding factors.
  10. one could drive themselves crazy with all the different types/brands of line. Some of the decisions will come down to money for many of us...sadly including me. I have been going to braid with a leader more and more. While braid is somewhat expensive, it lasts a long time. I have also started using trilene big game for many other applications and feel...personally...it is a great value and a good all-around choice. It is also VERY affordable. For spinning rods...again in my personal opinion...it is very hard to beat yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft in 6#. Many others on this site have recommended this line previously. you will get many suggestions ...try what makes sense for you. the final decision will be yours.
  11. 6'8" to 7'10". favorite length and most used is the 7'2" / 7'3" length. Like most, i use the 6'8" for topwater/jerkbait usage.
  12. strike king lil mr. money. throw it on a 7'3" dobyns sierra 733 and a shimano curado with 12-15 lb big game. No problems. also like the rocket shad mentioned above.
  13. That's a good one. My daughter got her braces off a year ago...just in time to get braces on my son. 13,600 dollars gone. pretty smiles coming though.
  14. + 1 on the puppy breath...I don't know that I intentionally smell my hands, but I can just smell the "odor" of the bass. I am happy to have caught one, but I always clean the "slime" off with lake water
  15. my all-time favorite night time fishing lure is a 5/8 ounce black jointed jitterbug. I have caught so many fish on it ...wait...never mind! ?
  16. I do. I will also use a zoom speed craw on 1/4 buzzbaits. I also throw a swimbait at times on my buzzbaits. I also will fish the buzzbaits with skirt still attached. I throw buzzbaits alot.
  17. I have cabelas gore-tex bibs...very comfortable and keeps me completely dry. I bought bass pro lightweight parka...(think it has been discontinued) It is also gore-tex. The reason for choosing the bass pro parka was simple...it comes with pit zips which help immensely with venting and staying cooler in summer.
  18. They all look Great! I bet you catch'em on that white/white blade inline spinner!!! I like that closed loop style spinnerbait...is that your design?
  19. I started painting my own lures this past winter...for something to do and to experience the high of catching fish on something I "partially" created. I have experimented with changing the blades on spinnerbaits both size & color as well as making my own skirts for several years now. I have not YET gotten into rod building but I think that may be next. After that will be my own molds for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and varies jigs. Saving money is not the thought, but having fun and designing/making/painting something that catches fish is the desired outcome. As an aside, I have learned much from the people on this website whether here or their channel on you tube...THANK YOU!!!
  20. Only Ohio. I am not allowed to leave the state due to an unfortunate incident involving beer, wine, booze, strippers, more strippers, a limo, and megastrike fish attractant.
  21. how did all you ugly guys get such pretty wives ???? including myself in the ugly guy club....matter of fact...I am the president!
  22. I don't fish tournaments. I only fish for fun. I will tell people what I caught, where, and on what lure. I know that 9 outta ten people don't believe me anyway. It has gotten back to me that a local tourney fisherman I gave the correct info as above regarding my day ( had just caught 4 fish on 5 casts using KVD silver colored jerkbait) showed up at the hometown fishing store and told the owner I was full of crap...LOL!
  23. I like ASICS, fit me well and feel great...and they last. I buy them from Kohls when they are on sale. Have no problem spending 70-80 bucks for shoes that normally sell for 110+.
  24. WOW...stones of HUGE, BRASS BUFFALO!!!
  25. Throw a lot of DT4, DT6, and DT10's with no issues. I throw the DT6 the most as it fits my style and the places I fish the most. Never had a bill break or come out...knock on wood!
