  1. All we use for bait is medium to medium-heavy live shiners nose hooked. Gene and Wayne, I still think of you guys often, along with the rest of the BR crew. I'm still fishing as much as I possibly can, and now that the waters hard we go out almost every weekend. I just bought a house near where I grew up and am living with my girlfriend Leah. Things couldn't be any better! Hope everything's well with everyone around these parts. I'll be sure to check in a little more often, I dont have internet except on my phone so it takes forever to post, haha. Take care guys!
  2. Been an awful long time since I posted on here, but thought I'd share a few pics of some fish we've pulled thru the ice so far this year. We've had a few days of too-many-to-count fish, plus a day of nonstop 3lb+ bass peppered with some nice size perch and pickerel. Hope everyone else is out enjoying this frigid weather! A good 3+ My brother with his all-time PB 5lb 4oz'er Random guy with a 6 (the fish looks small but he was a BIG dude!) My buddy Keith with his first ever hardwater bass Just shy of 4lbs... Another 3+ Tight lines all!
  3. Holy crap man! That thing's a pig!
  4. PS. Dwight Hottle, that fish is absolutely monstrous. Thing looks like a tank!
  5. I fell out of fishing for a little bit Wayne, just got busy with other stuff. But this past winter we spent a lot of time on the ice, freezing our scrawny MAsses off but catching loads of fish and it got me pumped on fishing again. Plus my girl got her first rod (a Fenwick, of course...) so we've been going out a lot together too. This year's been awesome so far though, between the 5+ chunker I caught on a random "I've got nothin better to do so why not go fishing for an hour?" kinda day to the smallie slayin' we put on yesterday, I'm sure glad I've gotten back into it! I'm even debating going back to that spot this weekend with the woman to see if I can put her on some more bronzebacks. Hope things have been good with you my man!
  6. I went out to a local smallmouth fishery with my girlfriend a few Sunday's ago. We only managed 3 fish on the day, but they were good ones. She got a solid 3lb'er (her first fish caught EVER!) and I bagged two 2lb'ers. One of the 2's and the 3 came off of beds, but there weren't many beds to begin with so I figured they'd be moving up soon. With that in mind I decided to make another trip this week and planned on Tuesday as the day. What an amazing decision that was! I took my sister Amy and my friend Brian out (Brian had never caught a smallie...) and we hit the water for 6:30am. By 9:30am we already had a dozen fish in the boat, with the first fish coming on the first cast of the day. Lucky for us the smallies had moved up onto a crap load of new beds, and we had them AAAAALL to ourselves on this day. We lost count of fish caught, but a good estimate, and with no exaggeration, would be that we boated 60+ fish on the day between the 3 of us. All but one was caught on a Spot Remover 1/8 Pro Model paired with a Zoom Shakey Head worm in Green Pumpkin. The one rogue fish was caught on a Rapala X-Rap. Size ranged anywhere from 1/2lb up to 3 1/2lbs, with a majority of them in the 2 - 3 1/2lb range. Would have been nice to bag a few huge ones but I'm not going to complain about losing count of 3 1/2lb smallies! I also bagged a 5 1/2lb largemouth on a Yum Buzzfrog about a week ago. What a year it's been so far! Leah's first smallie (gotta teach her how to hold em now!) One of my 2's from my trip with Leah My trip with Brian and Amy 3 1/2 (just one of many!) Amy with a 3 1/2 3lb'er Brian with a red-eye smallie Brian showing off a good 3+ smallie and Amy in the background with one to match! So many doubles caught, and even almost a triple! Last but not least, my big fish this year, 5 1/2lbs even Hope everyone else has been tearin em up lately! PS. Don't know why those two show up sideways, my photobucket shows them being right-side up. Oh well...
  7. That's a hefty smallie, definitely a good way to get addicted to em.

  9. Possibly the best advice I've seen given on this site, ever....
  10. Good post! I'm hoping to take my dad and sister out to the Quabbin on Sunday for Father's Day. Thanks for the info Crestliner.
  11. Man, those guys had a heck of a lot better day than I did. My buddy Joe boated 1 smallie about 1.5lbs early on a tube, but I had to wait until 10 minutes before we left to get my 2 smallies, one a dink the other about 1-1.5. I think all 3 fish we got were still less than 1 of those other guys!
  12. Definitely check out the Quabbin Reservoir if you can. Boat rentals are less than $30 a day, which isn't too bad for the best smallie fishing in MA. Get out there early though, rentals go fast! And make sure to bring a transom mount trolling motor and anchor, it can get windy out there.
  13. Anyone been out on the big water at the Q yet? I'm heading out tomorrow, looks to be a good day for smallies but I was wondering if anyone knows the water temp out there? Thanks guys!
  14. Hey all, haven't been on in quite some time, but I know the trip is coming up very soon and I wanted to wish everyone a safe and productive Roadtrip this year! To all the members that are going on their first roadtrip, have no worries. You'll be hooked up with a top notch group of guys and I promise this will be the trip of a lifetime. Good luck everyone, and tight lines!
  15. Saw it and would now like those 2 hours of my life back please... Thought the story was bland. The ending especially killed it for me. Reminded me of a re-tooled American History X, which I personally think was a phenomenal film, but Gran Torino doesn't even touch American History X as far as I'm concerned.
