  1. thanks for the insightful experiment. I too have tried switching lures and methods on certain days with very little luck. I must not have hit the right one for that I instant in time. This is most definitely true as a few of those days other people were able to find how to catch the fish when I was catching nothing. All the fishing shows iv ever watched also described as you how to switch up techniques. The one thing has been true for me since I started fishing in Co for Bass is I never catch bass when the water is cold. I have no idea whymaybe just one of those confidence things.
  2. Bass_Akwards did you get the email reply i sent to your email....just dont want you to think i was blowing you off
  3. VERY NICE FISH my friend!!!! now you just have to give up the sweet spots where you are catching them. have you had much luck with top water? i see some crank baits and some soft plastics (one looks like a Moto creature) which do you have the most luck with?
  4. thanks for the replys guys.... i guess its possible to catch them but not easy to target them
  5. Winter is coming and so is the ice on the lakes but thats not going to stop me from fishing... im a first time member on a private lake and have plans to do some ice fishing this year. im sure i will be able to catch perch, crappie and hopefully walleye but iv never heard of people ice fishing for bass and i have never tried nor know anything about it.... anyone know much about catching bass when the water is cooooold and icy... are they active at all? any suggestions on how to approach them? in this lake they also have cat fish, whipper and carp.... i know fish have to eat to stay alive but how likely am i to catch them ice fishing? thanks
  6. VERY NICE fish!!!! but their just ticking me off because of the season and not being able to go fishing....cant wait for the ice to thicken up and try ice fishing this year....went down to basspro and bought some ice fishing gear hoping to scratch that fishing itch over the winter.... im thinking ill be able to caught some perch, crappie and with a little luck some walleye.... i wonder if its possible to caught bass ice fishing.... never heard of people ice fishing for bass before you think they will bite??? Bass_Akwards if your ever playing at a 25k sit and go holdem table on poker stars and see a player with the name JUGGERXX thats me....
  7. here is a crappie i caught last weekend....good size for a crappie but the sad thing was he didnt put up much of a fight
  8. always love pictures....what lake is that at?
  9. Thats what i would have thought about the private lake and large bass as well. I think a good % of people that belong to the lake take home alot of the fish they catch... they may feel that way because of the $155...me on the other hand have never kept a fish in my life... dont like to eat them I ran into someone the other day that told me about a place in longmont called Pella something that had a lot of fish in it. they said it was catch and release only.. is that the same place you are talking about?... he told me he always catches large numbers of fish in there.... how was the fishing for you when you fished there?
  10. Which Berthoud lake are you talking about the public water source or the private club lake? If i think you mean structures in the water like brush piles, trees and stumps then no. Both of them are very flat. The public lake has a lot of large concrete blocks and rock on the d**n end. Had a great day out at the private lake on Sunday. Caught 10-12 2lbs crappy, 4 very small bass ~8", 1 large sun fish and 1 awsome fighting 18-20" whipper. Havent had a day like that in a long time. I wish the private lake had more larger sized bass in it. That is one thing that is great about the public lake, there are a lot of 4-6 lbs bass in there.
  11. just heard from a friend that read in the Berthoud paper someone caught a 9 lbs walleye out of Berthoud lake....thats NUTTS
  12. 11.5 lbs!!!! d**n id love to have been the one to catch that this is my first year fishing the private lake. its called The Berthoud Club ($155 a year), they also have bird hunting parts of the year. they should have web page up one of these days... some people have caught big fish out of there but their mainly catfish....not sure how many good size large mouth are in there.. the biggest iv caught out of that lake would be ~3 pounder.... just down the road 2 minutes north from the private lake is the Berthoud water source lake and they have a very good amount of good size large mouth in there.. iv also been fishing that alot with some friends becasue the first year i cant take any non-family members to the private lake...the only thing that sucks about the water source lake is you cant put a boat in the water nor can you even wade in the water.. learned that the hard way after a cop chased my father and i out of it
  13. i live up close to fort collins and im very new to bass fishing (2 years now).. grew up in colorado and got sick of catching trout... almost crapped my pants the first time i hooked into a 5 pound large mouth... after that i nevver looked at trout the same.... iv been fishing mainly in berthoud at a private lake i just joined this year....all kinds of differnt fish in the lake.... large mouth, walleye, perch, crappy, sunfish, catfish, and caught my first whipper last night... not a single trout in the whole lake.... i know theres got to be good places to catch bass in colorado but being its colorado their far and few compaired to the southern states... iv also heard the growth rate of a bass in colorado is about half that compared to warmer states...so a 7 pound bass must be a great great great grand father....
