  1. Had a good weekin Minnesota also. Caught about 15 smallys on south side at Isle.Went to a small lake we found about 6 years ago called Camp Lakewest of Mille Lac when wind was blowing. Got to Fish Trout,Deer, Wabana,Blackwater and Mule. Wish we had some conservation lakes like Mule and Blackwater where everything 14to20" has to be released. One may be kept over 20".What a fishery!
  2. Haven't heard one word about Berkley Nanofil? Spooled up two spinning reels today (2-150 yds off the net for $20.98) Looking forward to throwing the Ned with them. Any Nanos out there?
  3. Anyone having issues with "Vault Bearing System" in trailers. It seems no Maintance for 5 years with the Grease that turns to liquid as the hubs gets warmer.Just wondering.I ordered a new hub, bearings, and spring to take on a trip north. Any advice appreciated.
  4. Thanks eddallen, Tim the Depth finder guru fixed me up. Thanks again
  5. I'm planning on going to Lake of Woods in a few weeks and need some help. Having trouble getting in touch with Navionics. I call and am the 35th person in line. Can't seem to tell with any confidence what chip I need.Lowrance isn't any help, just says to contact Navionics. Is there another company that sells these map chips? I am not computer literate and next time will think a little harder on my Electronics. Any help appreciated.
  6. Slonezp the box is just a dry box.It has nopump or anything in it. I throw a bilge pump over the side and pump water in it for bluegills to bait trot lines with.I put the bilge in the box to pump it out with. I know you're thinking why don't you do this in a bass tourney. because this tourney allows only 1 dead fish and after that you're disqualified. during the summer its critical to have enough water. I need to get this done and have considered getting a dealer to do it. I just hate paying an arm and leg.
  7. I'm planning on fishing a few river tournaments and I need to add a livewell pump to my 1650 express river boat. It has a 15x30 box in it that I put bluegills in but I throw a bilge pump over the side and pumpwater in and out as I need to. My Question is there a kit or some recommendation of some brand to get and should I drill 2 holes in the back or just 1 and maybe 1 in the side. Just wondering. Any help or advise would be helpful. Thanks Crowcommander
  8. I agree with Bass Turd on the Whopper Plopper 90 in Phantom Shad (no 17). Also don't be afraid to throw the 130.Underhand short casts are best as Overhead cast are like throwing a brick in the water.
  9. What sold me on Ranger 178 was the Scott Martin Video on the Ranger Website.I am ordering one tomorrow with a few goodies like boat cover, boarding ladder(I'm 69),stainless prop, spare,Lowarance 7 on dash,Mercury 75 4 stroke.
  10. For me the 130 in Shad color is a tournament grading machine. The bass that hit the 130 wont have to measured on a 12" board.Theydo have bad habits thougn and are like throwing a brick in the water on an overhead cast.Short underhand cast seem to help on entry.Great bait with several guys in local tourneys trying to keep it a secret.
  11. Check the Sunday Issue of your states largest newspaper.
  12. Thanks Glen for the info.Very down to earth and straight forward. Please put some tan in a can on them legs.Looks like you've been in a flour barrel!!
  13. I am considering getting a War Eagle Renegade Boat with a Merc 115 4 stroke @395 lbs.Just wondering if anyone out there has one.The other option is a aluminum Ranger. As someone who has been out of a boat for about 5 years,I didn't know they quit making the 90 and 115 Optimax.Any info is appreciated.
  14. I use the 7" Yum dinger in Grn Pumpkin Purple and catch a lot of large fish in the Spring and also at night.Alton Jones has made a ton of money fishing this Senko wanna be.IMHO the larger version is a fish grader and catches the larger fish.
  15. Be sure and use braided line in 50 to 65# test. I use 3 1/8 oz heads and 1-1/4 oz head and usually catch the fish with the 1/4 oz head which is on the bottom hook. Fish around brush piles and hang on. Also a homemade retreiver( a large homemande triple hook with 100# trotline for getting at least part of your A rig back when you get hung up) When you get hung up,go directly over it and past it and many times it will come free. Also use a little Mega strike on the bottom bait seems to help also.Jst my .02.
  16. I really like them on my homemade A-rigs. I only use 1 at a time with Cane thumpers or Zoom on the other 3. I like the Rainbow shad the best although the Tennessee Shad comes in second. I usually rig the Kia-tech with 3/8 oz head and the others with 1/8 oz head. That way the Bottom bait(Kia-tech) catches most of the fish.Great bait and rigged and Superglued and fished one at a time they last a long time.
  17. I had a great day on a modified z man with Green pumpkin skirt 3/8 Oz.Stopped at Wally worldon way home and bought 2 more( White). Its kinda like fishing a football jig shallow.I use a bite off piece of green Pumpkin trick worm as trailer.Sometimes the strike is very light like they're comming up behind it and tehy run sideways.Lots of fun,But haven't found any Z man in Green pumpkin.Imho i also think the small Z man Blade works better than the larger off brands. The blade is also turned up to bounce off brush ans catched less grass.
  18. Since I fish some with a buddyand going in his boat some,I am always grabbing a hand full of Veristas and placing them in his boat. I have replaced 2 Micro Eyes that have failed by the Inserts coming out of them. Most stores do not have these in stock and they're sometimes hard to find. I have 8 of them now and love them. I can't put them down. I do feel that the MH is sometimes just a M and I have gone to the HEAVY for A rigging.Best $99 Rod on the planetIMHO and yes the rod holder is a Pain and yes the Lure Holder wire Needs adjusting,But I'll live with it>
  19. You can make a double frog hook by taking 2 5/0 gamy 60Degree heavy jig hooks and putting both them on a split ring.Same Principal and they will work better.IMHO
  20. Plano 3700's and I store them in my home freezer for long storage times like in the hot summer when I'm using Rather Large but adequate worms.
  21. Any suggestions for a new outboard cowling cover for a Merc optimax.I'd like gray or black and would like it to fit like a glove and display Merc.Any advise would be appreciated.
  22. I've had fair success with the Cane Thumper on the AlaBama Rig in Pearl and Alewife colors with a 3/8 Jig Head hook and 3 othe 1/4 Jig head hooks. The heavier one runs on the bottom of the group and usually catches the bass.Super Glue helps hold them on. Great bait, but they tear easily.
  23. I got one of those for x-mas,took it back and got MH @ Gander Mtn. It appears to be a little soft still for texas worming. I would consider getting a heavy. The MH seems to give some when fishing brush. Its hard to explain with these rods. The weight and casting distance outweigh the issue here. I just don't think I have found the right rod yet. Oh well, the search continues!
  24. I also found that Nanofil will not hold a flour leader with world famous super 8 knot. The instruction in the spool asid use the Albright knot which is less satisfactury in my opinion. But WOW# you can throw a fluke a country mile with it. Its like my moms white sewing thread.
  25. BPS could probably save on shipping costs if they would cut down on sending out sales catalogs.I get clothing, marine, fathers day, hunting, plus they're spring, summer, and fall fishing. That has to add up to about$25-50 per customer. Someone has to pay for that and guess who it is? You,Mr.Joe Customer. I would much rather see them cut out or down size these catalogs and go on-line only if they would go with low shipping like TW. And I don't have stock in them like some folks posting.
